When WS made it so hard for first time runner. No aid at River crossing and no trail markers , flags for him at important location. All when at record breaking pace ahead by over an hour of second place. WS were protecting the old school records to show how tough it is. So great to see him run again, break records and make it look easy. Say it with your feet.
It's funny, his form is very smooth apart from the large bounce with every step, which you would think would be overly hard on the legs over such long distances. In his case, obviously not.
Let's link the other video which has some soundtracks so the gimball noise is not there ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YaIXF4fEgPA.html
Just came across this video I recorded back then and all the interesting comments. I discovered Jim a few years earlier when I was alone in Lake Tahoe and he leaped by me on the trails. I have followed him and bantered with him since then. I am a true amateur photographer and tried out a stabilizer on my GoPro for the first time. Sorry for the horrible gravel noise. My shirt is a mock of his DryMax shirt that instead reads “Dry Heaves” which he laughed about. Jim is truly inspiring and shows us what is possible in trail running.
Great video! For me, the best part is around 07:48. You can see that despite having to carry water bottles in both hands, his pelvis and core are rock solid; no side to side movement or forward tilt. This is key to prevent injuries. Thanks for sharing!
His stride rate is about 160. I had read that for elites it was 180 or so but i think it's mainly a function of your size and he's large for an elite at 6'4" 170.
I absolutely LOVE the video FOR the background noise! It sounds so creepy and so is Jim's running - it just creeps/freaks me out (in a good way) how unbelievably fast he is!
I don’t like these kind of things... This situation disturbs me. There’s no respect. Just let him run and fly... free... let him just listen to his rhythm. don’t keep on following him. He’s an inspiration but you need to find the motivation inside yourself. Just my 2 cents... 🙂
@Chris I think that his pacer is enough... Jim has always cameras in front of him... It would have been great to listen to something like this:” Good jooooob Jiiim! Can i run a little while with you??” And then, maybe, start to run with him...but without a Go-pro 🤗
Francesco Defendi I disagree. I would love people running with me and wanting to film me because one day you will be old and can’t do it anymore and you can look back at the film and say wow look at me in my hay day! 🤩😍😎🙌🏻👍😇
Thanks for the footage. Bit disappointed that not a single female runner was featured - some placed above the runners shown here. Perhaps another vid with all the female runners?
You could hear that somehow the gimball had a constant grinding noise see 4:54 (fades in n out multiple times after that). I feel like there's a reason the music was edited over that, and sometimes the editor tried to reveal the live noise. IMHO the two soundtracks are pretty good, very uplifting and I'd like to see the list in the video description.
great job on the video...better than my attempt at videoing the event. Wish you got some of the women coming through Foresthill. I saw myself and a friend of mine when one of the runners went through Foresthil. Great job.
