WE just replaced this seal on my honda del sol and it's still leaking. We replaced it about 5 weeks ago and just replaced my right axle and axle seal. Which is sealed and clean. I thought were were done but it looks like the shift seal is still leaking. It's soaked, losing fluid fast. Any thoughts? Yes, Honda OEM from the Dealership.
@@CalaveraChronicles After we replaced the shift shaft transmission seal the fluid leaking was more than 60% Less. I also tightened up bolt on oil pan. This is about 6 weeks ago. For the first time oil levels are staying the same, for 6 weeks. Before I had to fill that up at least every 4 weeks about 1/2 a quart or close to it. So after we replaced shift seal and tightened up oil pan bolts the fluid leaking was a lot less, at least 60% less or more. Then we replace right axle and right axle seal and suddenly for the first time immediately the driver side axle seal is leaking. He showed it to me and it was just a tiny dribble. 1 line going down... Now over the last 7 days or so I checked and rechecked under my engine for leaks. and the driver side axle had zero leaks and both boots are perfect and dry. It's only 5 years old. I drive my car home thinking well I will replace the driver side axle / seal in a month or 2. Next morning I wake up and the leaking is just as bad as it was before we replaced the Axle and axle seal and the shift shaft seal. Except this time it's pouring out of the driver side (5 year axle). I just put it up on my buddies ramps last night and oil is flung all over the place... it's bizarre cuz even when we replaced the passenger side axle and seal about 7 days ago, even after he pointed it out, there was no oil flung about, no major leaking, the boots were dry. Now a few days later oil is all over the place on the driver side... I just think it's odd. How the very next day after we replace another seal which by the way is good. The new axle is completely dry... I think it's odd how all of a sudden the other axles seal is leaking like crazy. And it's dripping all the way down onto the shift shaft seal so i can't tell if it's the shift shaft seal at all... I'm going to replace the 5 year old axle and axle seal on the drivers side... which will at least get rid of that big leak. And then That will stop leaking from above. Then I will be able to see if it's the shift shaft seal. I hate to say it but it seems like Foul play is at hand because I had to walk to the O'Reilly's store to buy a 32 mm socket cuz he said he didn't have one. And then I had to go again and get some liquid wrench silicone spray... and suddenly the driver side axle is leaking like crazy. The next morning I had a new puddle of fluid on the ground that wasn't there before. Note: The shift shaft seal was done by one guy. The axle / seal was done by someone else, I didn't really know very well. I just bumped into him at the O'Reilly's store.. Is there any explanation as to why suddenly after replacing 2 seals the 5 year old seal would suddenly start leaking bad? When it had zero leaks before? In the last 6 months we / mechanic replaced timing belt, water pump, Crank shaft seal, Front Seal, Valve cover and spark plug seals and did the valve timing. We replaced the shift shaft seal, tighten up the oil pan bolts which were loose by the way. And we just put a new passenger side axle and axle seal in. Now we are on to do the right axle and right axle seal. Hopefully that finishes it! I'll replace the oil pan gasket in a few months since at least for right now the oil has not dropped a bit in 6 weeks.
@MikeKollin I had my axle do the same thing once with Autozone or any aftermarket axles. I ended up using oem c clips that are on the end on the axles that go into the tranny. That ended up working for me
@@CalaveraChronicles I don't think it was a C Clip. I mean the drivers side axle has never leaked for 5 years. Suddenly the very next day it's leaking after we replaced the other side's axle and seal? By the way the Shop that replaced my axle 5 years ago is a top notch shop. They are all chinese and work solely on Honda's and toyota's. They specialize in Japanese type cars. It was only after we replaced the other axle and seal this one started to leak. I just think it's odd. The axle we replaced about a week ago is fine. Perfectly dry and clean. I just checked it again today about 2 hours ago. It's the axle we didn't touch that was dry before we replaced the other axle and seal that suddenly is leaking. I mean it had a total blow out. Just bizarre. #1 It never leaked before. #2 It's only 5 years old. #3 I had checked it at least 7 times in the last 6+ weeks due to trying to figure out where the leaks were coming from to replacing shift shaft seal, then right passenger axle. The Drivers side has always been perfect, dry and clean... Who knows... I'm going to O'Reilly's now to buy a new Driver side axle and seal. Note: 6 months ago a mechanic at a shop replaced the Front Seal, Crank shaft seal, Valve Cover seals and spark plug seals along with timing belt and water pump. So all those seals are good. NO leaks, dry, etc. Again I just find it odd, but it's possible it was bad but couldnt' tell yet.
Nice! I just recognized your name....I watched your video about Hunter at Spoke X like 2+ years ago and it led me to buy a set of wheels from him. Drove from OC to Temecula open my lunch to pick them up! Now, I'm researching for a buddy on an entry level eMTB and here you are again! Nice video - U'm convincing him on the YT over the GasGas he's wanting for $200 cheaper. Seems like this is the bike to get at the current $3499 price tag
Thanks for tuning in! Glad I can help! The decoy has been really good to me. Definitely try to shoot for the 720 battery if possible. Good thing about YT is that they have a local place to take the bike to if you have any issues
YT has been selling the core 2’s for the same price as the Luna. Haven’t heard much about Luna or seen them. It would be cool to put a leg over one though. I did notice the Luna has lower travel and the parts aren’t quite as good as the decoy too when it comes to tires, suspension and brakes. Either way it looks pretty good.
@@CalaveraChronicles strange. When I looked up the price the 1st time there was a huge difference. I’m looking at the price now and ya. Its about the same. Check out this bike if you have not. LMX 64. Someone on RU-vid said it’s power is about 85cc. I’ll buy one when it can hit the power of a 125cc 2 stroke .
In what world is this exactly the same bike? Decoy MX is a mullet with a Shimano motor, weighs less, actually has a reasonable geometry chart (Luna doesn't even list the reach or seat tube angle / head tube angle!), greater range of sizes, and has a longer warranty on the frame and components. Maybe the Luna is a great buy at the right price, but to say they're the exact same bike is just not true. Why on earth would one would want a throttle on a mid drive e-mtb is beyond me, but hey, if it fits your use case, more power to you.
I made an oval chainring in 1983 or 84, when Shimano was selling Biopace oval chainrings. My chainring was made by cutting a round chainring and bolting the pieces to a plate. My oval was quite extreme compared to Shimano's offerings. I rode that ring on a recumbent bike and did a 75 mile Tecate to Ensenada ride one year with it. It felt like climbing stairs. Here's what is looked like: 2.bp.blogspot.com/-WdLeZdM_Orw/W7z-rfRY0iI/AAAAAAAAXdE/Uve0DqiO-pElTMh7vwZjGaZaYhnJ55tCgCLcBGAs/s1600/mark_pace.jpg
Can you feel the weight difference between magped and these while riding? I am on the fence between the two. My only concern with the Avery pedals is the weight.
The bike feels lighter even though the Avery pedals are heavier since the connection is stronger. After owning both. I liked the magpeds but absolutely love the Avery pedals for my type of riding.
So at the time I was on a budget and the holidays were closing in too. The core 2 was $5900 and the core 4 was close to $8k. I also had analog bike and e-bikes weren’t as welcomed as they are now. So it was a happy medium getting something not as expensive. The 720 wasn’t available yet also. To be honest if the sale was going on at the time I probably would’ve picked up the 4. It’s all good though. I get to learn how to work on an ebike as I upgrade and do maintenance. I also get a chance to feel the difference in the upgrades. It does suck missing out on the sale by over a month but I don’t regret buying the decoy at all.
@@talesfromthetrailz we’re skipping this years Oaxaca ride. Life has been busier. The ebike has been my main go to ride. I broke kinda even and she deserves to be ridden more than I was. My hopes are to get a DH bike for park days. But for now my ebike helps me stay out there for the limited time that I get
@@CalaveraChronicles yeah I'll bet that ebike is fun bro. Def get that DH! Love your content carnal, love seeing Raza on bikes! 👊🏾🤎 Keep doin you man, hope to ride wit you one day!
Interesting. I am waiting for my Decoy MX core 2 here in Europe and it will come with SRAM DB8 brakes, FOX 38 and FOX shock. Same name, very different specs
It's not expensive if you actually use it on a regular basis. It's worth it for the smiles and the miles not to mention the experience and memories to be had. Totally worth it. 👍 13:21
the skipping in the high gear is your B screw to tight , loosen it up enough so it wraps around more the last cog without letting it too slack. try it...
Yo brother !! Great long term review and what a good idea to cover this!! Great job on those trails too. I havent hit the new one yet. Looks amazing!! Excellent video as always
@@THESEGMENTPR the Decoy has been really good to me! Thanks again bro! I’m sure I forgot to mention some things but for the most part mostly positive things can be said about the decoy
I had a large core 5 on order (i ride medium yetis and Santa Cruz’s). Had a chance to ride a L decoy and found the seat tube to be too high for my short legs. 😢 I ended up canceling my order and now looking at the new canyon.
What's up my friend..been a long time, your last YT video must've sparked something in me.., I got a size large only because I didn't feel like waiting another month for the XL... Hope I don't regret it. Anyways, it's not yet shipped (Should be here by Wednesday). Can't wait to meet up with you out there.
You’re going to have a blast brother! Do you normally ride an xl? If so I would definitely wait for an xl. But if you ride a large and got a large you should be fine too
Nice bro looks like you're having so much fun on your bike. Finally, what I've been waiting for is for sale here in the States. The canyon strive on. I'll probably pull the trigger no later than two weeks.
@@Striveon247I haven’t been there in a long time. But they do have a running shop in there I don’t see why not. Maybe shoot them a call and see if they will do that.
@CalaveraChronicles What's up bro since you have experience with an e-Bike? Do you think a 625-watt hrs battery is enough? Because canyon right now is only releasing bikes with 625 batteries. They said maybe in 2 to 3 months they will have an option with a 750 battery. What do you think 625 is enough?
@@Striveon247 which bike is the one you’re getting again? My friend has a Levo that came with a 640. I feel like he last just almost as long as me but I’m on full boost. I think he manages to extend it. You might be fine. It really depends what you do with it. We do a minimum of 4k climbing in 16 miles. So it’s pretty steep. Is the battery something you can upgrade later? I saw that some of their bikes come with 700-900 batteries.
That's interesting. I wanted to quiet my I-9 Torch, because when I coast, the noise is picked up by my Go Pro. I used Shimano Dura Ace grease, and it's substantially quieter, and the grease will slow down wear, but in terms of resistance to spinning, the grease looks to offer the most resistance. Hey, but that's okay! Thanks for the video.
@CalaveraChronicles I've struggled with bunny hops and was thinking about going clipless but I didn't like the idea of being stuck like that, Also when i go downhill with lots of technical sections, my feet jump off the pedals as I use flats, so I thought about the magnets and stumbled upon these pedals, the magnets idea looks like a good combination for both worlds.
@@solidsnake2030 I was on the same boat as you. Once I got on magnetic pedals I haven’t felt like I need to try clipless. If you decide to pull the trigger on these try to get clipless shoes that are mostly flat so the pins have something to grip on
Hi.I'm going to do the same with my brakes.I'm thinking of using Magura Royal blood oil.Magura oil has a higher viscosity and withstands higher temperatures and heating during operation. What do you think? What pin you use on a hose?Magura or Shimano pin? What ID (inside diameter) BH-90 is 2.1mm wide ID,and BH-59 is 2.5mm ID,the BH-59 pins are made of brass usually, and BH-90 out of stainless steel?Obviously for Magura oil it would be better with a bigger one ID pin.
Sorry bro I missed your message! Yeah I used royal blood on this set up. I used the gold barb which I believe is the wider one. I did try the silver one but it was too small. I’m at a year now and no issues! I just swapped out the rear pads though. I’m at 1000 miles on the decoy so I feel like they lasted pretty good. Good luck!
I usually have good luck with them. These were sets that my friend had laying around. On my sb150 they lasted like 2 years and they started to leak. I sent them in and they took care of them pretty fast
