I never understand why your channel has so few subs. You're entertaining, you respect your audience and everything is nicely produced. Hopefully you can build your following.
Finally! Ive actually researched so many videos looking for this. Because i will be playing alot locally with my friends - and was wondering if there was a "mirrored" clock function. Thank you for this video!
The important thing is the connecting software on the companion device. You can use the board to work through puzzles on chess.com and Lichess, as well as some of the third party apps on Android.
hey Vitualis, 4:24 the best move for black is the space grabbing pawn move b5. the best way to punish the careless Bg5 is by Bxf7+ and then Ne5+ forking king and bishop on g5. But i appreciate what you say about the psychological aspects of the game. Thanks for the upload.
I generally agree. This wasn't a video of an in depth analysis of the von Hennig Gambit, but I agree that b5 is generally the a great approach in a practical sense for Black. My recollection is that the engine actually prefers Bf5 at higher depth, but engines are engines! 😅 With regards to punishing Bg5, I certainly agree that Bxf7+ is the better approach, from the perspective of accuracy. That said, evaluation-wise, it's not actually much better than Ne5, but if Black finds the accurate moves from the position, it is easier to play the middlegame with White with the position that comes out of Bxf7+. My view is that this is really very much choice. I tend to like higher risk games, with tactical possibilities, even at the cost of tricker positions because I find them fun. From that perspective, I generally prefer Ne5 from the position as there are some immediate tactical possibilities, even if the resultant position isn't as safe.
I use Leonardo.AI (which I think is based on Stable Diffusion) to create the assets. Sometimes, I might composite several assets to create the image, and almost always there will need to be some manual editing of the images to fix some problems - e.g., fixing fingers, funny looking chess pieces, and other anomalies.
Thanks! I don't actually play many games, all things considered, and I enjoy analysing games afterwards to understand better what I missed - both what I could have played, and what I did play but didn't understand. 😊👍
I use an AI based image generator to make some of the base assets. I then composite and edits these manually. For instance, I often will have to manually edit and fix things like hands. Cheers.
@@chessnoob64 Gracias por responder Entiendo que se actualiza la base de datos y se actualiza todo el sistema en una nueva versión que se podrá bajar. Una excelente máquina.
I like the way you covered almost every aspect of the board, something many reviewers don't do. The only thing you didn't cover was the brightness and visibility of the LED lights when outside, which some reviewers have said isn't very good. Good video though!
I discuss the LEDs in the accompanying article to the video in the description 👍 Yes, the LEDs are too dim to be visible in direct sunlight, even when mildly cloudy. However, they are okay when the board is used in the shade. I think I'm the only reviewer to have actually taken the board extensively "on the go" and used it out and about. It works very well indoors, and feasibly can be used outdoors under some sort of cover. Have a look at this video from last week of taking the board on a trip to the seaside, and playing in a cafe next to a window, and outdoors with the shadow of my body on the board. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Q2lGocA-AGM.html
That was fun 9:01 Qxe5+ works as well since you then get both rooks without losing the bishop, two rooks for a bishop is better than a queen for two pieces, not much difference though both variations are very won. Thanks for the upload.
Question! Are you able to participate in the Lichess 4545 and lonewolf Leagues with the Chessnut air? I finally figured out how to use it with my iPhone WhitePawn app, but I'm unsure how to select games for these leagues, since I have not participated in them yet.
That was an exciting game! ✅ I once played the fishing pole gambit when I placed my knight to g4, but my opponent didn't take my offer 😢 He must have been familiar with it 🤣 GG
Man. This a perfect size for me. I already have the Pro and so, in the interest of keeping my marriage, I will have to be happy with a single board. :) The one complaint I have for all the ChessNuts is that they are really focused on a single player. If you have a family of players, you want multiple sign-ins and tracking and all those good things. A note about the Pro. I really like the all-in-one aspect to it, but i wonder about that design for longevity. I suspect the board has a five year lifespan and that's that. Maybe a bit longer. I dunno.
The board will simply light up the squares where the pieces are on the wrong squares. Once you correct the position, the game progresses without issue.
How does piece promotion work please? You just place the one you want to promote to? What happens if you want 3 queens or something silly? Also, is there an option to continue the game in the app in case of a problem with the board?
Yes, you remove the pawn and put the appropriate piece on the promotion square. Basically, this is exactly what you would do if you were playing a game on a non-electronic board with a real life opponent. if you want three queens, you'll need to get an extra queen piece! 🤪 Yes, you can continue the game in the app if the board disconnects - e.g., flat battery. in practice, I've never experienced the board randomly disconnecting over many dozens of games on the Chessnut Air, PRO, and now GO.
Yes, it's a shame. At the same time, I'm not really sure how this can be addressed - LEDs are simply not that bright. Perhaps if the board was made from an e-ink or epaper material that could dynamically change it's appearance? However, this would massively increase the price and fundamentally, I'm not sure that the feature would be "worth it". Most of the time, I play chess in a shaded area, even when outside.
@@chessnoob64 agree 100%.. a lot of people asked me about outdoor as well... but realistically i think most users would still use the board inside, or if they wanted to play outdoors, do what you did and use the phone as assistance to see where the pieces went. travel boards really need to be cheap, especially if taken outside :)
I wouldn't get it seriously wet or submerge it. However, as the top surface is basically just a printed plastic surface, and the PCB is bonded two layers down, I'm reasonably sure that it'll handle a mild spill on the board surface and clean up just fine. I wouldn't want to get fluid into the gaps on the side where the buttons and speaker holes are though...
I contacted the company about this and this was their response - Thank you for your inquiry. Currently, our Chessnut Go does not support waterproofing. We hope you understand. I was hoping for a more detailed answer. Not sure if it was a computer generated answer.
Yes, the LEDs are not bright enough for the board to be played in direct sunlight, even when it is a little cloudy. This is largely the case for all the the electronic chess boards. Fundamentally, LEDs are not very bright compared to the sun! However, the LEDs are adequate when the board is in shade. For instance, in this video, the sun was behind me, and the shadow from my body was enough to make the LEDs visible. Similarly, the board lights could be seen in the shade of the cafe, even next to the window as long as it wasn't in direct sunlight.
No problems whatsoever with the breeze (other than it got a bit cold - it's winter in Sydney!). The LEDs, however, are not bright enough to be visible in direct sunlight, even if it is cloudy. Simply, the sun is comparatively VERY bright compared to LEDs. However, the LEDs are visible outdoors when the board is played in some shade. For instance, the shadow of my body (the sun was behind me) was sufficient for the LEDs to be visible/adequate. However, it would be better to be under more shade - e.g., a covered area or under a tree.
