Rad shit. Lifeweb itself will always be something that intrigues me. Planned on getting into coding, though I guess byond code is a bit too intimidating for me to try to build and learn from. Love any and all clips, especially since the recent update remind me a bit of Deus Ex. Loved that game to death.
BYOND's coding is actually pretty simple. It's less fun if you want to learn something like C# or C++ but it's more than fine for beginners and especially if you want to learn Python or Javascript.
I like these vids even more now that I'm still getting used to the new UI I didnt know you could use the face at the bottom for something thought it was purely decorative (you can still use the mouth of the doll though)
20:00 I'm not gifted enough to believably roleplay as a woman. That's talent. The baroness didn't snap her fingers with respect to the nuisance squire chased all the way to the throne room. Definitely dramatic!
Setting is a big factor. The majority of Lifeweb stories take place planetside, so the environment is a bigger factor. Things such like foreign invaders, diseases, native life trying to reclaim what the humans had stolen, etc. No admin intervention is also good, Lifeweb prides itself on being immersive, so it minimises the amount of things that can take you out the story, such as admin bwoinks and mid round reports. I feel this gives way to people getting more invested and putting more effort into the roleplay, but you do still get some burnt out individuals. Lastly I would say is the system, there's fewer mechanics but they're a lot more refined than some other servers I've played. It simplifies a lot of systems so that when you're playing a role you're not getting bogged down by skill/knowledge differences. Not all the time at least. Combat is probably the most complex out of any SS13 server, with its own stats system, weapon durability/condition, skill, aim mattering, armour. Very big focus on melee that isn't just smash a guy in the head with a toolbox. If you get the chance, try it. The setting is not for everyone but playing it feels like a different story.
@@Felipe45345Yes it certainly would be nice if the creator of this server could who has spent years and countless hours developing the game to release his code for absolutely free asking nothing in return so other servers can benefit without the effort.
I've seen a lot of skinless lately and the screamers seem like their playing a little better lately (or maybe their playing it as it should be a team effort)
Mercenary is a very liberal fate that doesn't really have much going on unless you are essentially conscripted into someone else's story. Typically I play it when I want something that isn't too involved but has the potential to wind up in fun spots. I think the 'routine' for lack of better word is just what you can expect from the fate, as part of baseline state of play for said fate. Like cooking all story as innkeeper, or opening and closing the gates as incarn. Sure, might not be that creative or exciting but things can develop. That's my view at least.
