Wir sahen quasi dasselbe kürzlich in Nicaragua (Alliierter der DDR und der Sowjetunion während der sandinistischen Junta der 1980er), wo Ortega politische Gefangene aus der Haft entlassen, aber danach (dank einer Verfassungsänderung im Eilverfahren) als Landesverräter ausgebürgert und in die USA abgeschoben wurden. Ähnlich wie politische Gefangene in der DDR und jene, die wegen "Republikflucht" verurteilt wurden. Die meisten der betroffenen Nicaraguaner, die keinen zweiten Pass haben, sind jetzt staatenlos. Daniel Ortega hat da klar von Erich Honecker gelernt. In der Bundesrepublik bekamen DDR-Bürger wenigstens in solchen Fällen sofort den bundesdeutschen Reisepass und waren nur sehr kurz formell staatenlos. Im Falle von Nicaragua bekommen wenigstens einige der Ausgebürgerten Angebote z.B. aus Spanien auf eine Staatsbürgerschaft.
