Impressive trip, never got to do it but thanks for your safe driving, bet he'll never stop talking when he get's home, I've done Trans Canada Highway back in 1976, then back here & driving coaches for 4 years.
G'Day again Jonno. I've finally finished watching and liked, every single one of your videos, and it's been very enjoyable. I'm off to watch Ken & Tez next. Keep in touch. Regards, Greg.
G'Day Jonno. Another great video. WOW that WAS a long drive. 5185km according to Google Maps. I'm looking at one of those quaddies near Newman. Can you tell me if the 3 axles on the prime mover are all driving please ? Regards, Greg.
G'Day Jonno. When the missus and I are travelling we like to boil quite a few eggs. Some we just eat, others we turn into curried egg sandwiches (bread, butter, + mayo, curry, and sometimes lettuce). We have a cooler with all this stuff in it inc coffee sugar & milk (I assume you have all that too)? We try to avoid greasy stuff whenever possible, like the stuff at Ampol Cobar. Regards, Greg.
Do you guys have plenty of spots to rest at night? In the USA there's like 1 parking spot per 10 trucks or something like that so you struggle to find a place to park
We have many parking bays in the bush which is where I prefer to sleep. In the cities it can be hot and miss too very some good places to sleep. Definitely not enough Truckstops in Sydney.
I'm from USA just arrived in Perth 2 days ago. Waiting on some documents so I can transfer my USA Commercial Driver's License and then test for MC. Is there plenty of work out here?
Yes that's us but if you don't have experience with road trains is may be more difficult. You may have to take a job with a single trailer first then get a job pulling two or more.
You’d have to word it right so there was no way liability came back on you for telling someone to do something one way in a video and they do it and stuff up. The biggest issue I see is not having half a crisp on English, they can’t communicate on the uhf and either turn it off or speak in Indian. I understand why the sets off, as soon as they do say something 4 guys are into them straight away
G'Day Jonno. Here's a dumb question for you... Are dollies 'registered' at all? The reason I ask, is, what if someone slammed into the back of your dolly, and wrote off their car? You were towing a dolly for quite some time in this video, and just wondered what the consequences might be ? Thanks, Greg.
Yes a dolly and trailer and registered all the same as a car and truck. I'm home in Melbourne for the long weekend. Great stuff. What suburb did you say you were in?
G'Day Jonno. Here's an observation I've made. When you go around tapping the rims to get the dust out, I've noticed that you only do the outside rims, not the inside ones. Or am I mistaken ??? Regards, Greg.
That was a big jump from Coolgardie to Mildura then Hwy 20 joining the Hume Hwy M31 I had to go back to see if I missed something ;-). I still enjoyed it though.
Gday Johnno! My name is Sean, and I'm a new viewer here from the States, and I really enjoyed this driving video, especially with the windows down - that exhaust on your truck sounds incredible! It is my ultimate dream to go for a nice long ride along in a road train, hopefully one with a real mean sounding Cummins! Now, I've got some questions on the truck. What year, make and model, engine and transmission? What exhaust are you running? To me it sounds like she's straight piped with an ISX EGR engine! Now, I'd like a special request done. Can you please do a super long ASMR style video with the best audio possible? I'd like for you to use the GoPro, as you did in this one. I'd love the following: engine start up at the beginning, tons of stops and starts, runs through the gears, cruising, jaking, and if possible, high RPM shifting, and engine shutdown at the end. Make sure to do it with windows down, so I can hear that exhaust sound! I'd like the ASMR to be well over 2 hours, for me, the longer the ASMR, the better! And no commentary, just the engine and exhaust sound from beginning to end. No intro/outro, just raw unedited ASMR action the entire way. And just in case, ASMR is a type of video that help people sleep, relax, study, meditate, etc. I've seen several other truck drivers who just let the camera roll and just drive, no commentary. Plus, I'm blind, so I'm even more fascinated by how amazing these Aussie Cummins engines sound, and I'd like the longest ASMR's possible on this truck so I can listen to them and fall asleep while imagining I'm on a road train adventure! Please let me know ASAP, and I hope you can do my request for me as soon as possible!!
So my truck is a 2011 EGR Cummins with a straight through exhaust I am getting a new truck shortly so this won't be around for too much longer. You should hear this truck in real life. It really does sound amazing. What is ASMR? What does it stand for? I actually can't stand those videos where it's just driving and engine noise. That is no good for me. I make my videos so you could put them straight on television. I will try to make some more videos where there is a lot more just engine noise.
@@RoadTrainAdventures ASMR stands for autonomous sensory meridian response, which is a tingling sensation that spreads through your body, and it is related to different audio sounds. I know you don’t like doing videos with just engine sounds, but if you could please try your best to do my requested video I’d really appreciate it! I want as much ASMR action on it before you get your new truck!! I’m sure other people will enjoy it as well! Since your truck is a 2011, is it a T404, T408, T409, or T908?
I did make a video that is a little like that. It's called "A very different video". I do talk in it a bit but it goes for 44 minutes. My truck is a T909. I'll see if I can make a video of me driving around the city so you can hear me changing gears a lot. It's a long weekend here in Melbourne and I expect to have the weekend at home so next week will be it.
@@RoadTrainAdventures awesome!! When you do it, you’ll use your GoPro, like you did in this one? Like I said earlier, I want the best audio as possible, and the audio from the GoPro is fantastic!! How long do you expect it to be? The longer the better!!
It depends how much driving I do. I will probably only man's one because these videos to me are really amateur and I'll leave these for other people to make.
Wow, just looking at the clarity of the fantastic Mavic 4 drone shot above the Emerald truck stop. Was it my imagination when you did the Eucla drone shot that it goes really fast ? or was it sped up video ? Regards, Greg.
G'Day Jonno. I have a routing question for you... I will be heading to Surfers soon, up the Hume/Pacific Highways, which means negotiating the dreaded Sydney traffic. We are planning to overnight at Campbelltown, just South of Sydney, and get up about 3am to go through to Heatherdale for a breakfast pie, then on to Surfers. Do you reckon that's OK, or would you suggest a different route to either bypass Sydney completely, or a better time to get through Sydney with the least hassles. Thanks, Greg.
@@RoadTrainAdventures G'Day mate, and thanks for the reply so quickly. I don't really need the experience I have done it 5 times each way already (in the last 2 years since getting the Tesla), and I hate it (going through Sydney). I even went via Dubbo once, then across to the coast through Dorigo, Bellingen, Coffs Harbour just to have a change. Did you notice how they are going with the Coffs bypass, and the other construction near Newcastle? BTW, I'm still going through all your vids in reverse order, up to the drone killer at the moment. (And now you've got me wanting one). ;-) I see what you mean about being expensive! Regards, Greg.
G'Day Jonno. Here's one reason why Hungry Jacks / Burger King can be slow... They may prioritise drive through first, and everyone else gets the dregs of service (my opinion). Question about refilling at Ceduna IOR... When you are filling, does the pump handle reach all the way to the other side so you can fill up both sides at once ? (Just curious).
After a long day at work, its always a joy to kick back and watch your videos. You radiate positivity and have such a friendly persona that I can relax to. Thank You. Cheers from Singapore.
Hello Johnno what are they building there in Collie. That was a long hill but nice road Do you ever get a vehicle follow you up hill and down dale no matter how slow you go ? I have done it in NZ, then called the truck driver, during the trip, and at the end, said thanks for the ride, and they have come back and said thanks for the company
They're expanding the power station to have a big bank of batteries. Nobody could tolerate going that slow up or down a hill so no that hasn't happened.
