Was directed here by Brielle's shout-out to you. It's nice to meet you. Yeah you've got the right idea: having a system is the quickest antidote to perfectionism. You mark the things to be done, and then things get done. You bought a professionally bookbound version of your draft?! That'll certainly be a prime artifact years down the road when fans ask you questions about your process, so bravo for getting the jump on it.
@@AdamFishkin thank you!! and yes! I actually got the idea from Brielle, and I’m so glad I went through with it. It has been a game changer in revision! thanks for checking out the channel!
Do you introduce the main love interest in part two? I just notice that the main love interest is always very involved from the beginning or people lost interest.
@@BbGun-lw5vi I have considered that! They are introduced at the very beginning of part two, however I am not super worried about interest being lost because the main plot does not revolve around the love interest. It is an added element to the plot!
Sorry I don't like Saving Cat method because it doesn't drive why it matters. To save time I say watch Abbie Emmons outline videos to make the story better.
Loved seeing your unboxing, and knowing your husband was excited too! Significant others supporting each other is so lovely to me. One of the last conversations about my writing that I'd had with my husband, was him telling me that I should focus more on dishes and the laundry, instead of writing. Lol!! (He's now been my ex-husband of 5 years, and my life has never been better!) The snakes look super cool! I love snakes on book covers, though in real life, not a fan. 😵
@@lendralit1174 thank you! yes, my husbands support means the world to me! I’m glad you’re no longer with someone who is unsupportive, that must’ve been very hard. And thank you! Same here, I am not a fan in real life hahaha
Your excitement is so contagious - so happy for you that you get to hold your book in your hands! Also love the Save the Cat mention - that book (I read the screenwriters' version) transformed me from a pantser to a plotter and is so so helpful. Excited to watch you revise your first draft as I'm revising mine!
@@hannahetienne Thank you so much! You are too sweet. ☺️ and yes! it is such a great resource, it’s really helped me transform this process. Best of luck to you with revision! It sure is a doosey haha
It is really cool to be able to se each and every step of a first time author😁 it shows a completely different side of the trade then for example Brandon Sanderson, so thank you for that🐍 keep up the good work
l have a question : why some writers publish their books to sell on kindle while they are can build their own site to sell books and make more money by selling their books on a website that they own
@@HH-zb5ul A lot of self published authors will do both, or a combination of different forms of selling! I know that I personally intend to sell my book via kindle, amazon, and a website. It all depends on preference and cost. Both Amazon and Kindle are completely free to self publish on, where as building a website, paying to have your book physically printed and then shipped to people can begin to bring the cost up. I hope this helps!
as for the revisions, I highly suggest checking out a video by Gina Denny. I forgot what the video is called, but it has editing in the title as well as videos by Alexa Donne, Abbie Emmons, and Bethany Atazadeh... hope it helps!
Who did you use to print your first draft? I'm going to be printing off a book of poems just for my personal use, and I think I'm going to use IngramSpark. Curious if that's who you're using to! 😊
I’m a 41 year old dude and yet I heard so much of myself in your story. I wrote my first novel in 2012 as a supplementary piece of media for this TV show I was writing, but I’ve decided to take a break from filmmaking to pursue novel writing and I’m about 250 pages into my second book (which feels more like a first). It’s a mystery. Liked and subscribed.
I can't believe I found this channel because we have so much in common!! I started writing when I was super young, started a million stories that I never finished, got serious about one of my stories a year or two ago, listened to a bunch of podcasts/youtube videos from writing experts to educate myself, and wrote the last sentence of my first draft about three days ago. I'm in film school but I've always known that I would be an author someday. Like you, I'm a fantasy fan and my novel is a fantasy! It's so fun to see other writers who are around my age and at the same point in their journeys as I am -- and we're both in Illinois! I look forward to reading your book someday and am happy to be a part of your corner of youtube!
@@hannahetienne Wow, this is one of the sweetest comments I’ve read! We sound like kindred spirits! I am so glad you can relate. And girl, CONGRATULATIONS on finishing your first draft! What an enormous accomplishment. Seriously, cheering you on through these next steps. I hope you’ll stick around so I can hear all the updates! Nice to meet you, Hannah!🫶🏼
