Im in the middle of a career change, I love anatomy but barely have any college hours, should I go to medical sales college or what route do you recommend?
Great video, it is impressive to see how far you have came in just a year of being in medical device sales. I am student at the University of Missouri and have been following your videos for quite some time now with hopes of entering the field as soon as possible and I would like to thank you for your desire to teach like minded individuals the skills it takes to become successful in such a competitive field.
The best med reps eventually become personal/almost family friends with their docs. Sometimes it’s luck, sometimes it takes unreal persistence (up to a decade) while being very likable. All situational.
This is very true. Every situation is different. That’s why longstanding competitors are very hard to take down. But, the persistence can make amazing things happen.

Oh yeah I see them very common. And, if you have experience, they can have some high base salaries. And I wanted to work with surgeons. I love that aspect and being a part of patient recovery. How about you?
@@Becoming1percentI’m still straggling the fence. I have opportunities with both. However, it’s going to boil down to work life balance for me. I am closer to the age where kids will be coming at anytime. I did have a question for you. When you worked at Medtronic- what were your hours like?
This is solid advice, and it is exactly what has worked for me. I’m in cardiac rhythm management sales (pacemakers) and started in my territory with 0 revenue. Focus on making their practice better, get people to like you over time, know your products back and forth and what patient population they can uniquely benefit. Build relationships/friendships wherever you can and you might get a shot somewhere. I wish I appreciated the time it would take and the patience that is needed to change a doctor’s mind. Definitely started out over the top and pushy with some doctors - didn’t do me any favors.

I was looking into a career change from aviation to med sales but was told it was mostly tall good looking athletic types that get the jobs. As a 42 year old short, fat, bald guy, this put me off a bit.
@@Becoming1percent I’m a mechanic and there is really no room for growth. I make $71000/yr plus per diem which brings it to around $84k. Besides a cost of living raise around $1, I’m pretty much making what I can make. I am 12 years in and it would take another 20 years to break $100k salary. I just want more earning potential before I’m old enough to retire.
