The title says ex seventh day Adventist pastor. But it’s odd to me that he’s talking about an eternal hell. Seventh day adventists don’t believe that God sends people to an eternal hell. That’s not the God of SDA’S.
I think he is trying to say torture in general. SDA's do not believe in burning forever but they do believe in the unrighteous getting burned at the end of the 1000 years. Fire is one of the most painful ways to die.
Why single out Catholic priests when there are other religions that practice celibacy? When Christianity was first starting out, the major religions of the time that worshipped the Greek & Roman gods had temples that employed prostitutes & orgies were part of their worship. Now look what happened to the civilizations where sex was uncontrolled & people had no self-control. You get leaders like Nero who abuse kids, rape anyone they choose & burn cities to the ground. Kind of what's happening now & what politicians do in Epstein Island.
Controlling our sexual urges predates organized religion by a long way. In fact I would say that was a key factor in the development of civilization. Having said that I would have liked to hear what he said about why Catholic priests became celibate because I don't think that celibacy should be a job requirement.

There is no "we". Before the European invasion of my country, my people had strict rules about sexuality. They had no organized religion. So your point is moot. Stop blaming religion for what is common sense
Yuh wrong brother, you missed something; go bck to theology class. 'For ever and ever' is 'as long as it lasts', it doesn't mean continously without an end nor does it mean everlasting. God is Love. To me the answer is fairly simple people are not perfect and never will be till Christ returns and therefore you cannot form any church or group that will be perfect. the main thing to look for in a church body when trying to find one in the western world is how focused are they on Christ himself if Christ wasn't concerned about it we shouldn't be concerned about it. Christ taught it we should teach it.
Yea I used to think that too why. Why didn’t God answer these prayers…but is clearly answering those prayers. Or why are pastors losing their faith and Atheist professors gaining faith? If Christianity is false, a simple investigation should debunk it. Yet, some come to believe after investigating. Life is hard, but don’t forget their are even Athiest historians who do see the goodness of Christianity.
Because, your prayers weren't going to bring glory to God. Certain people in the past rebelled against God and he turned them over to their enemies. You should know this if you study the Bible better.
