Is anodized metal scratch resistant, say for a metal fishing lure, or would a different type of coating be more adequate?
@ShinyInsanity
@ShinyInsanity 25 дней назад
It has some scratch resistance but it's not super hard. It can work on a lure but will get scratched from teeth and banging around on the boat. Enamel paint is probably easier and can be touched up easier.

You did not elaborate on the part that was red and blue, end to end. Also, can a part be dyed with one color over a second color? Say red over black or green over yellow. I am thinking of an effect where a second color occasionally appears in an otherwise uniform finish.
@ShinyInsanity

The red and blue part was just done by dying one side partially then flipping it around and dying the other side partially. You can dye over colors but they will blend. I do not think you will get the fade through effect you mentioned.

I bought one at Christmas and only used it once I had done the proper breaking in procedure etc. Anyway, I just went to use it again and it won't even turn on! The pressure is all drained out of it right now. It's plugged into a dedicated outlet. It's not on an extension cord. It has oil in it. When I flip the switch. Nothing. I looked all through the troubleshooting and didn't see anything about what to do. Somebody did mention that sometimes there are reset buttons? It's not listed on my manual. Have you ever had this happen and do you know where the reset button is?
@ShinyInsanity
@ShinyInsanity 4 месяца назад
Sorry to hear that. I've never had this happen on mine, but sounds like it could be something like a loose wiring connector. I don't think this model has a reset button that I am aware. If it's out of the warranty period you can always unplug it and pop off the cover to see if any of the wire connectors worked loose over the winter.
@TheButterflyGirl7

@@ShinyInsanity Good morning. Took off the cowling and it turned out the motor had caught fire and melted! It didn't even have 1 hour of use on it It wasn't under warranty anymore but they did take it back and replace it with another one which I had to buy the extended warranty in order to have the store do that Now I'm trying to figure out what could have caused the fire. I suspect it was a faulty batch of these compressors *** However, I wanted to ask how important it is for the compressor to be absolutely perfectly level when operating? I've noticed it seems to be slightly unlevel so in the oil window it looks like it's on the low side. However, when I wheel it all the way out to the cement pad and let it sit there a minute I can see the oil is correct level. In your opinion, does the compressor have to be extremely level in order to run safely? Just glancing at it, the compressor looks level until you look at the oil window.
@ShinyInsanity
@ShinyInsanity 4 месяца назад
@@TheButterflyGirl7 Glad you were able to get it replaced. That's odd that happened and hopefully that is not a common problem. As far as the oil level it should not need to be perfectly level. If you have a major variation in your floor it could in theory cause the low side to have some issues with circulation and thus lubrication but I don't think anyone's floors are that uneven. More than likely it was just a manufacturing defect versus anything you did. Let us know how the next break in goes.

My back flow preventer is gushing water every time I turn my spigot on...what's wrong with my system? thanks.
@ShinyInsanity
@ShinyInsanity 4 месяца назад
Drip irrigation systems typically operate at a much lower pressure than standard hose bibbs. If the backflow preventer isn't designed for low-pressure systems, it might misinterpret the pressure change as backflow and release water when you turn it on. Try to turn on the spigot slowly.

Go slow at first and use some tapping oil or some other lubricant to help. The copper was pretty soft and didn't give me any issue once I got it started. Don't use a vise since it will definitely twist. If you're using a thinner gauge copper tube that may also contribute to twisting.
