Ahh sorry it took so long to get to your request! I really liked the song, it was a great change of pace for the stream! Hope to see you there next week
Love this reaction dude! you should react to quannnic first album "kenopsia" is literally the best album ive heard in a while, i feel like you gonna love it!
I gotta take a moment here to gush about The Exit in particular cuz it's my favorite track on this album (aside from maaaybe the Spider and the Lamps), but also cuz it does something I've never seen any musical do before or since: using the time signature to symbolize the emotional state of the characters. You have the background chorus, chiding the protagonist and telling him he's going to meet this horrible fate, singing in a fast-faced 4/4 time, BUT whenever Adakias (the protagonist) starts singing, it descends into a waltz with a slower 3/4 tempo. It LITERALLY shows him falling out of synch with his community, marching to the beat of a different drum... all up until his brother arrives, and he has one final verse in 4/4 before reaffirming his commitment. Like GAH it makes me WISH more artists would play with concepts like that, because whether or not you notice the change, you FEEL that difference as a listener.
THANK YOU!! I think this album is in many ways a puzzle to be solved, and observations like that help untie the knot.. so cool! And I agree, stuff like that tends to be felt more than actively noticed by listeners, which to me is one of the coolest aspects of music in general
The Last Dinner Party are my absolute favorite band. They're incredible on so many levels. When I listen to them, I'm also reminded of early Queen albums because they were very theatrical and focused on thought provoking lyrics. I feel like there's a hint of ABBA sometimes...maybe because of the harmonies and tempo changes. Ultimately, however, they are unique unto themselves, and I'm so excited to be inspired by music again. I enjoyed your insights. Thanks!
I absolutely see the ABBA/Queen influences in their music! The theatrics and melodrama present in the album definitely feels very 70's/80's inspired, but you're right it's ultimately a very unique sound! Glad you enjoyed the video!!
Wow it kinda seems like ur somewhat of a big yeule fan now lol! would u consider checking out their first album Serotonin II? it’s quite different from their recent rock-oriented work but I’d say it’s similar to inferno off of softscars
Great reaction! You should check out Japanese bands called Mass of the Fermenting Dregs (post-hardcore/shoegaze) and Hitsujibungaku (rock). They two of my favorite bands from Japan.
I hope this impacts you the way it impacted me. When I learned about this I listened to the entire thing in one go which destroyed me. I love this project to death and hope you find a love for it the way I did. See you in 6 months!
Its going to be so fun to see the story progress, and as your channel progresses. I haven't seen anyone listen to EATOOT as it is "intended". also happy 100 subscribers!
oh hell yeah, I'll check it out on stream tomorrow! Are you ever gonna put out a full album or mixtape with all these songs? let's do an interview when you do!
Thats awesome, but at the same time I'm not surprised, there are some really interesting parallels you can draw between how they both structure their songs!
u need to check out Jazmin Bean's (they/them) Traumatic Livelihood album! it has like an early 2000's pop rock vibe with some pretty heavy lyrical topics, it's a beautiful album
i loved ur reactions to the songs, especially when x w x dazies and softscars came up 😭🙏 my favs from the album, they went so hard that my first time listening reaction was just sitting there with my mouth dropped LMAOOO
2022 was a stacked year! Pretty sure that ants from up there is going to be on my decade end list.. Hypochondriac is going to be streamed soon for sure!
Love that you post the vods for us to watch later! Its like getting 2 full album reactions plus bonus content all in one! I think this Quadeca album is my favorite of the year so far. I'm finding myself replaying it a TON more than I thought I would.
Heck yeah, I'll post them as long as youtube lets me! there have been a few that have been pulled down from copyright strikes.. Hope you can make it to the live stream though!
Yeah, first time listening to Quadeca aswell although i knew him from Hivemind, thought i was going into a mid youtube rap album but he really suprised me! So many different genres and inspirations in this one
