Any experience with Slip2000 EWL30 and how comparable it is to Weapons Shield?
@mastergunworks
@mastergunworks 12 дней назад
Yes, I was previously a dealer for them. Slip 2000 isn't a terrible CLP. Personally, I don't think it comes close to weapon shield especially in lubrication ability.

1911s have a purist following that thinks anything you do to modify one is almost sacrilegious. I have over 30 of them in various lengths and calibers. Probably half of mine have been modified in one way or another. We have an advantage that John Browning did not have, and that is a hundred years of data to look at. I have ramped a few of mine and it does make for a smoother operation.

How do you go about getting the bottom of the slide level? My initial impression was to use parallels, but the ~1 degree slope of the top of the slide makes that problematic. Do you just clamp and hope it doesn’t get pushed down?
@mastergunworks
@mastergunworks 2 месяца назад
Neither, I used a dial indicator to indicate the bottom of the slide to perfectly parallel.

Everything you need, and nothing you don't. Just got my 4.25 and can't wait to apply this. I came with a crisp 6 pound trigger. My last trigger job on a 1911 turned out OK, but I missed quite a bit. Now I have this excellent guide. Thanks.
@TheAmerican1963
@TheAmerican1963 3 месяца назад
My 4.25 had that same problem. Took your advice and replaced the hammer, hammer pin, hammer strut and pin, mainspring housing, mainspring retainer, mainspring and mainspring cap. All the EGW parts I used fit way tighter than the stock ones. Well, 500 rounds later the "wear" evened out !!!!! Thank you so much for your great advice !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂

You need to polish the disconnector and also polish/round the bottom of the breech face. I have 2 Prodigys and both have close to 10,000 rounds through them. No issues and no hiccups.

Did Springfield ever make the changes to the Prodigy and the SA-35 in order to have them function correctly ? The Prodigy seems to be plagued with problems, and the SA-35 extractor and extractor springs were failing in the 700-800 round range. This seems to be a drastic failure on Springfields part, especially as the BHP, P35, has been in production without serious issues since 1935.
@mastergunworks

I am not sure about the SA-35. They have made significant improvements to the prodigy.

The Prodigy is great for anyone who wants to customize their gun or knows gunsmithing. But making so many changes and the cost you might as well go get an Atlas or something

So you can Tinker with it….it’s a Builders gun it’s not something that you’d buy to leave stock like a Staccato or Bull Armory.

For me, I ended up spending less than the cheapest staccato to end up with a pistol that I, personally, wouldn’t trade for the very most expensive stacatto made. My Limited Optics rig started off life as a stock Prodigy, and beats the pants off guns that come from the factory costing twice as much as what I’ve got in it.

How many thousandths do you take off on a tri-top slide? How does it impact the in integrity of the slide! Great content. I wish I had the skill, time and equipment to do what you do!!!

My Nighthawk Shadowhawk has a little uneven wear on the rails, but just try to take the barrel out of the slide. I haven’t shot a Prodigy yet but I have a beautiful TRP, and had a piece of junk Ronin. Thanks for this video, gives some ideas. Best Regards

Time and money to do these wonderful adaptations. The 1911 was meant to be a mass produced conscript issued sidearm not the custom trophies we have made of some of them.

I understand why you're doing the 'marvel cut', however, mine is as smooth as butter, of course I took off the cerekote from that section along with the slide rails and frame rails. I have a #19 mainspring and just changing that out smoothed out my slide action, now with the EGW kit and Atlas trigger it's great.

Thanks for the great video. I have been considering a Marvel cut on my Prodigy but was concerned that removing that much meat from the front edge of the disconnector rail might cause it to wear excessively or not reliably strip incoming rounds from the magazine. Now I think I'll go for it. I was really impressed with the attention that you paid to details like the disconnector foot and the extractor hook. I learned a lot.
