The #Yimkhung Union Kohima celebrated the “Tsakran Nyan” festival, an important cultural event for the Chirr-speaking dialect of the Yimkhiung Naga tribe, at the State Academy Hall in Kohima on September 7. The event was themed "Reminiscing our cultural heritage" and featured #Kiusumew Yimkhiung, the Advisor for Fire & Emergency Service, as the special guest. Other notable speakers included S. #Keoshu, the Advisor for Youth Resources & Sports; former village council chairman Salomi village Shophu; finance secretary of Yimkhiung Tribal Council and #Vipopal Kintso former chairman of Kohima Municipal Council and various former and current tribal leaders. Significance of “Tsakran Nyüng” "Tsakran Nyüng" is a three-day festival celebrated in the first week of September, after the millet harvest. The name itself is deeply symbolic: "Tsak" refers to all kinds of grain, "ran" is a shortened form of "rhanvuh," meaning harvest prospect, and "nyüng" means festival. The festival serves as a thanksgiving ceremony and a prayer for a bountiful harvest. The Celebration Preparation: The festival is announced four days in advance by a village elder, allowing the community time to prepare. Men clean the community pond and collect necessary materials, while women gather essentials from the fields. The village is cleaned to ward off sickness and protect against enemies. First Day (Kintoh): Animals are slaughtered, and the meat is distributed among the community. A ritual called "Pongmhe mhüt" is performed by the head of the family or clan, involving the offering of rice beer and a piece of liver to invoke blessings. This day is mostly celebrated within families. Second Day: Community members invite each other for a communal feast, where they enjoy rice beer, freshly prepared bread made from sticky millet, and other delicacies. They go around the village in groups, singing songs of praise, strength, and unity. Third Day: Invitations are extended to those who were missed on the second day, including maternal relatives, widows, widowers, and the destitute. In the evening, couples discuss the possibility of hosting or reciprocating the "Feast of Merit" (Nyingthseh) based on the current year’s harvest. This feast is of various types, including feasts for the entire village, for strengthening friendships, and for exhibiting wealth and strength. Following the festival, the community collectively clears the paths leading to the fields, and the next day is observed as a day of rest, with everyone staying within the village. #nagalandtoday #

Kohima, September 6: The General Biennial Conference of the Federation of Nagaland State Engineering Associations ( #FONSESA ) took place on September 6, 2024, at Hotel #Japfü in Kohima. The event was attended by the #Minister of Power and Parliamentary Affairs, K.G. #Kenye, who urged engineers and technocrats in Nagaland to leverage their untapped potential to drive the state's development despite limited financial resources. Kenye emphasized the critical role of communication and road infrastructure in societal growth and acknowledged the negative impacts of inadequate infrastructure on various sectors. He also addressed the ongoing Naga political issue, urging citizens to prioritize its resolution for the state's progress. During his address, the President of FONSESA, Er. #Hutoi Sema, highlighted the challenges faced by engineers in Nagaland, particularly in the wake of natural disasters that have severely affected the state's infrastructure. Sema discussed the delay in finalizing the #Nagaland Engineering Service Rule 2012 (NESR 2012) and expressed hope for its resolution. He also emphasized the need for engineers to receive fair representation in IAS encadrement and appointments within the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC). Sema encouraged engineers to stay updated with technological advancements such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and smart infrastructure systems to address the state's unique challenges. He also stressed the importance of collaboration across departments, the central government, and private stakeholders to empower engineers to implement modern solutions. Er. #Wapangnaro Imchen, Executive Engineer of the Water Resources Department, provided a technical presentation on the National Hydrology Project (NHP) and the Real Time Data Acquisition System (RTDAS) established in Nagaland. She highlighted the department's efforts in monitoring and collecting real-time water data, as well as the development of a Flood Forecasting Model for the Dhansiri River and plans to alleviate water logging issues at Dimapur Airport. The conference underscored the crucial role of engineers in Nagaland's development and the need for unity, innovation, and collaboration to overcome the state's challenges. #nagalandtoday

When kohima-manipur road is out of danger government ignores Niuland-Zadima road and Pimla-Mhainamtsi road as if these two routes will not come to need and always keep on maintaining choumoukedima via kohima and so on...... Now as it is nowhere to ply they started plying on these two routes SOROM NAI..... Rasta banaishe koi le sob banabina kile nijor laga jaga tehi banai itia toh dusra tribe laga jaga tepra berabole dia toh apuni kinika phabuna kuri ase.... Sorry to mention tribe but it has first started by some money hungers..... As a person there's alot of unnecessary thinking coming to my mind but I'm not like you..... Change by now and make all the alternative routes as national highways.... Otherwise anything may happen anytime..
