It’s amazing how all roads available on the internet and you tube that are educational on Silky lead back to Australia and you two in particular. I can’t thank you both enough for your unparalleled, wisdom, knowledge, wonderful personal and heartfelt touches that you put into your videos.. Now, after watching you for several years, I don’t even bother scrolling.. regardless of how old your videos are, I simply look for you. you both are simply wonderful. I am fortunate to have many very skills and I teach it all of those disciplines. so from teacher, both of you have educated me exceptionally well with all things silky. Thank you again.
Hi, You would choose the Super Accel if you wanted a slightly more robust saw and if you have large hands. It has a bigger handle, so is more comfortable for larger hands. ☺ Nita
@@whyFLASHi The Ultra Accel does not have an aluminum handle. The super Accel does. The Super Accel is designed to be as light weight as possible, hence the Aluminum frame.
Hi, would the Sintung lopper fit the Longboy…..I am fairly new to Silky but totally hooked now , and are there any new videos in the pipeline , as always you two are superb…⭐️👍
A great thank you, from France, for all your videos. Sadly, they have become scarce these last years. Idea for a video: comparison between this Zubat Ultimate and Sugoi 330. Actually, I am currently hesitating between these two products... about Sugoi, I am surprised to see different sheaths for model 360, on Silky Europe and various sellers: sometimes it is similar to the one for 330 (with silver top including rollers), and sometimes it is plain orange, very similar to the one for LongBoy pole saw. Which one is the current sheath for Sugoi 360 ???
Hi, yes we have been very slack. We will try to get another one out soon! Your suggestions are great, thank you! Silky has now made all sheaths for the Sugoi the same. With obviously more length for each size. They all will have the silver neck and rollers from now on. The main difference between the Zubat Ultimate and the Sugoi 330mm is the clearing teeth. So if what you are cutting is wet and a medium to soft density timber, I think you will love the new ultimate! 😃 Nita.
@@SILKYsaw Thank you for your answer from the antipodes. A few weeks ago, I bought a Hayauchi for my oaks (not a large piece of land at all, but with big oaks and some other tree species), and your videos have been a great help to choose and use this pole saw.
Hi, anything with Teatree oil in it or Eucalyptus oil would be great for cleaning. I did a quick Google search and it seems as though you can buy lanolin lubricants in the USA so hopefully that one's not to hard to find.
Good script, but lost amongst all the lengthy giggles and jokes, and “whoops I did it wrong, I am so silly” ALL the way through. It’s an irritating interruption if you’re new to this and seriously trying to follow what is being said, because you genuinely want to buy one. As a woman I thought the women would be giving their experience of using it, which is why I watched it. I couldn’t have been more wrong. You’ve just made women look really stupid by picking women who clearly have never used the equipment, aren’t trying to, never intend to,and can’t hold it even, what’s the point? Or is it just an entertaining titillating video for old men who don’t do any gardening. Pathetic, but could have been so good, if they’d just read the script, and given the impression they at least felt comfortable holding the equipment, and had used it, and were at least interested in gardening. Really bad taste, I didn’t realise Australia ( if that’s where it is) was such a backwater.
@@SILKYsaw I have since found videos which show women of different ages and strengths, and different levels of experience using different pole saws in different trees. The weight and top heaviness is important as a woman, as is the degree of sawing required, and the level of strength required in the upper body.. Seeing someone do this tells the watcher a lot as long as it hasn’t been edited to give a false impression. If you look at videos of weak inexperienced women, some even elderly, or frail, trying to use this equipment, you will see what I mean. When I see a picture of two women advertising equipment, I assume it’s a video to help women who out of unfortunate circumstances and necessity or happy choice need to use the equipment. This video assumes it’s a man’s job, and even worse, that a man will always conveniently be there to do it.
@@marinka424 So that you know you are not wasting your time reading my responses. I am Nita, the older of the giggling girls. I have in fact used all of the products we demonstrate and even though I am not certified, I have worked in Forestry, Horticulture and Arboriculture off and on throughout my entire life, as that is what three generations of my family have done and we all work together from time to time. So yes, I have a fair idea of what is needed and important when selecting tools in these applications. Most of our videos are designed to provide information, not demonstrations. We create these videos so that you know why the product was made, what is unique about it and the pros and cons. If you would like any more information or even demonstrations, we enjoy and encourage people kindly asking for that. Our videos are not targeted to men, they are for humans. Old, young and all degrees of ability. Silky saws are designed to make gardening as easy and as enjoyable as possible. Regarding pole saws, our videos will often mention that the weight is mostly felt when the pole saw is on an angle, so we always suggest if you are not strong (male or female) then always have the pole as vertical as possible when moving it from one tree to the other. While you are sawing the tree will hold the weight of the saw and that is how my 7 year old son was demonstrating cutting with a 7.7 meter pole saw in one video. It is practically weightless while cutting. It's once the cut is finished that you feel the weight again. Also, Silky pole saws do not require you to apply pressure when cutting. You should NOT be using your arms you should simply be rocking from your front foot to the back foot and gravity will give more than enough pressure for the blade to cut into the branch. I hope this information has helped and you enjoy the rest of your week, Nita 😊
@@SILKYsaw Thank you for that information,, I was concerned about the arm movement required. Ive also been looking at pole battery chainsaws, although I think they may be too heavy. I’ve read about kick back on chainsaws, and it seems to be when the saw or chain is stopped by coming into contact with another branch or being squeezed. Does that mean if I had a small pole chain saw, that I can’t let it touch anything, other than the branch I’m cutting because it might cause kick back? If you only do manual pole saws, don’t worry. Thanks.
@@marinka424 We only sell and have in-depth information on Silky Saws, which are manual pole saws. Battery chainsaws are normally quite heavy and are not weightless while using them as they are not hooked. From my understanding, there is a variety of reasons a chainsaw can kick back, so a higher safety consideration. 🙂
Excellent advice. It would be great if you decided to re-shoot this video but trim it down to 90s which should be ample to cover all the information. And on top of telling the viewer, it would be great to _show_ them shots of actual cuts being made.
Oh my, this is one of our first videos. A little bit cringy to watch now, 🤣I keep wanting to take it down, but the team says noooo, so it's still there. Yes, we have improved over the years and now we make sure to have demos in each of our videos. And the 'trim it down a bit', we try, but honestly, we are so bad at keeping it short. We will continue working on it though. Thanks so much for the feedback! 😃 Nita
Great job. Suggestion for future videos: Include close-up shots of packaging / placard, front & back, so viewers can see discernibly see & read entirety of text displayed, thereupon.
This girl has no idea what she's doing. Has no training on this saw and is basically clueless. This is the person that's supposed to convince me to buy this saw 😂
Hey mate, you need to dial it back a couple notches. Nita is quite literally a world class expert on Silky Products, and has proven herself to be an invaluable resource to those of us who use Silkys, professionally, in the bush, or in the yard. If she doesn't know the answer to a question, she'll contact the factory and get back to us promptly. Thank you Nita, and please keep up the great work!
Hi. that you for showing a lot of details. I may have missed it, but if the fitting on the Silky poles the same? Can you mix and match blades and poles as you like?
Hi, no sorry you can not switch the blades between pole saws. The Zubat blades will all fit on the Zubat pole saw, so you can mix and match them, but not between the different pole saw styles. I hope this makes sense. 😃 Nita.
@@gardensandtrees Thank you for the answer. You have a good channel of information here. No that does not make sense. To not have interchangeable mounts in the same brand on something as simple as a pole is weird. Speaking of the Zubat. If I understand you correct the blades also fits in the handle for the handsaw?
Not sure what the problem is? Was there a saw that can be sharpened that we did not point out? If you are after a video on HOW to sharpen a Silky, that is a different video. This is the link to that video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uPRTDCwTL_E.html&ab_channel=SILKYSawsAustralia
As regards to Leg Stap's,which I would wear on the Calf. Thigh and Waist installation NOT comfortable whilst wearing harness for Climbing. Question:Do the strap's have 1 size?!!! Considering how I would install Saw on Calf region. How generous is the Velcro fastening? An Appreciative Robert
Hi Robert. Agreed, with a harness, the calf is a much better region! The leg straps are one size, but it is pretty long, so you should have no trouble fitting them, even over spurs. You need two of them, one for the top near the neck of the sheath and the other toward the bottom of the sheath. There are strap loops on all of the saws. Nita. 😃
Gday Nita. Finally managed to acquire the said Saw. Look's The Dog's ******** Not quite the Matt finish imagined, though should make it rather more resilient to scratches. Love the colour of the scabbard. A must have for any Arborist. I'm 55 and still enjoy pushing myself. The 330 along with a 390 ought to aid my task of reducing weight of a Hefty Sycamore. Love your videos ❤️💋 Robert (England)
It is quite the looker, isn't it! So glad you love it as much as we do. And keep it going, my dad was 69 and still climbing for friends. Fit and happy! 😃
Good on your Dad. Most Impressive. Calisthenics an important part of my life. Tree Climbing provides a productive challenge developing my capabilities. So enjoy All your content Videos. Best thing on RU-vid ❤️💋
At Last,my UK retailer inform's me in stock awaiting purchase. Looking forward to using on a challenging Sycamore. Some substantial limb's to remove. So willl certainly experience the Professional Ultimate capability. Sexy Saw-Yeah baby Yeah. Robert.
Do you have the links to the original videos showing them use the wooden vice 2:05? I’d like to make one myself. More footage would help me replicate it. Thank you.
Hi, you could cut up to about 32-5cms in my opinion. You are really only limited by the length of the blade. Due to the hook, you need a little space for the blade to move. 😊
I revisited this video as I was polishing my Yoki270 that I recently bought. It is a brilliant multi use tool. Then, as I watched, I realised this was the video that prompted me to enter the competition, and I won that Pocketboy Curve! Some years later, I still have that saw, plus a Bigboy 2000 360, another bigger Pocketboy, and my Yoki. I use them all, and they are brilliant tools. Cheers, and the flashback was fun.
@@SILKYsaw Hahaha! I cringe at ALL my videos! Oh, I recorded a heap of footage for my Silky review, including showing how aluminium ute trays and Bigboy teeth don't get on well (spoiler: Both suffered damage). Unfortunately, I accidentally deleted all the footage. So, back to the drawing board... I WILL review all my Silky tools sometime soon.
Ideally, you would use a smaller tooth, unless the timber is very large. ie 20cm plus. The medium tooth is the perfect one for your standard dry hardwood collections. 😃
