The Garbh Choireachan is a great ridge. I used to do it in the other direction and returned via the posties path or try and hitch a lift from Achiltibuie. Great video and thanks for posting it.
Thanks for your kind message, it is really appreciated. I really enjoyed the ridge and we had great conditions that day. So many places in that area I would like to explore. Thanks again. 😊
Hi mate, are you doing an episode per route in the nuttalls book, if so I’d be interested which ones you have/can potentially combine. I’ve done that in the lakes but seems trickier in wales without a camp out
Hello, thanks for getting in touch. I do start by looking at the Nuttall's book routes but then often end up changing them depending upon what I can see on the satellite view on OS Maps or if I've been up them before. Many of the routes in the book are fairly lengthy already so it would be a challenge to combine with others or include different tops. Let me know if you have any questions regarding specific tops included in any of the episodes and I'll be happy to share my experience. The Nantlle Ridge Route in this episode is best done as a linear walk as repeating the route like I did in this episode was a bit too much, for me at least! 😊
this is the first video of yours I've seen, and I enjoyed it very much. I grew up in the mountains of West Virginia, and I absolutely love seeing the mountains in other places and Scotland had some of the finest I've seen. Thank you for letting me come along. Dwayne
Thanks for your message. Really glad you enjoyed it. It makes all the effort of putting these little films together worthwhile when others around the world can enjoy sharing my adventures. Thanks again. 😊
Stumbled upon your channel while searching for Moel Cynghorion, we’ve watched a few of your videos now and really enjoying them, I (Mark) did a solo on Gallt Yr Ogof about 2 years ago and I pitched not too far from you were, your vid reminded me of that and the views are stunning up there . I had an awesome sunset as well fantastic place. We’ve sub’d your channel . We defo think you deserve a lot more subscribers your videos are a great watch ATB Mark & Simon 👌👍
Thanks Mark (and Simon) for your kind message. I loved that camp. Can't believe I haven't wild camped this year as yet, always seem to be waiting for the perfect forecast that never seems to happen. Hopefully I'll get out on a camp soon. 🙂
Cycling in definitely a great idea. I enjoyed the walk in, watching Suilven growing as we got closer all helped build up to the excitement of the climb up. Going back though I would have given my right arm and a pack of Iron Bru Jelly Babies for a mountain bike to get back on!
It's so beautiful there. Like a mini version of the three sisters of Glencoe. I'd love to go back for a camp and explore the corries. A special place. Glad you enjoyed it. 🙂
Cracking video great footage the paths have been improved greatly since I climbed suliven they were very bad and muddy I also recommend climbing Cansip as the views back to Suliven are amazing brilliant video cheers
Thanks, it was a great day. One I will always remember. Still got loads to do in that area. Looking forward to going back in the future. Thanks again. 😊
Yes, I love it up there. I think it's unusual in that the mountains are mostly on their own, rather than part of a range. It seems to make them so much more dramatic and appear more massive. Suilven is coming next, which was a particularly special day for me. Thanks for watching. 😊
❤ brilliant my home territory. As I live less than 30 minutes drives from the Beacons well done Cwm Du on the western side of Fan Frynych is worth exploring a fantastic place a miniature Scottish glen cheers
Cracking I did these in mist first time and blistering heat the next time lol I like that approach to Aran Fawddwy from that side up to the lake and up the ridge I lovely quiet area cracking video cheers
Thanks for your message. Yes, the walk in was stunning and the highlight of the day. It was a sad that the other moorland tops didn't get the views over to the Aran Fawddwy due to the cloud but overall it was a really enjoyable day.
Nice video I am enjoying your walks I have done this hill twice from north and south direction whilst doing the Welsh Hewitts it’s always good to find different routes up hills excellent
Thanks for your kind comment. I didn't expect too much of this one as it didn't look too exciting on paper. In the end it was a really enjoyable afternoon. Only saw one other person and the views at the top were lovely. It's a reminder to me that I don't always need to do epic days out bagging loads of tops. I've still got the Western Berwyns including Pen y Boncyn Trefeilw which I believe is one of the Hewitts, but the walk description in the book doesn't make it an attractive prospect.
Yes there’s a few tops in that area some are ok others including that one are accessible from a forestry road and are slightly dull but a quiet area with good views of Arran Fawddwy connected all together in a circular walk it’s not a bad route but don’t get lost in the forest like me lol 😂
Thanks for your comment. Yes, its been a very soggy year so far. I'm hoping for a nice spell of settled weather soon. It seems like ages since we had a run of good mountain forecasts. I enjoyed this one as it was a nice and quiet despite being Easter weekend when the more popular hills would have been jam packed.
Hi just found your channel. Your van looks good I’m just building a camper van myself, wales and other places you’ve been to is on the list so I’ll be working my way though your videos 👍 just subbed
I love your videos and interested to hear you don't like walking on your own .My late husband and I walked al over Snowdonia and I don't want to go on My own now but you've inspired me
Thanks for your kind message. I found walking alone really hard at first but I love it now. Hopefully you can build your confidence and rediscover your happy times in the mountains. 🙂
Superb Rudolph. It is a great part pf the Beacons - the wind on top cooled you down somewhat and hey drove some of them gorse flies away. I imagine you got back down buzzing - no pun intended. Well, all the very best. Mark
Yes indeed. I'm currently camped in the Arenigs and it's baltic! If I don't freeze to death you should be able to see what I've been up to in a couple of weeks time. 😀
Thanks for sharing this part of your journey. I'll be working my way through the others in due course. So glad you feel blessed. As a blue I'm in total solidarity with you and that terrible tragedy. It's always good to think of the positives when there is so much negativity in this world and walking and wild camping really gives me a chance to reflect and approach life's issues. I did my first wild camp on the summit of Gyrn Wigau just a few weeks ago. It was everything I wanted it to be and I was absolutely blown away by how good it made me feel. I can't explain it any better than that. Really enjoyed your video. ATB
Thanks for your kind message. I wish I had discovered wild camping 10 years ago! Gyrn Wigau has one of the best views. It's such a great spot, I'll have to go back and try again one day. Hope you have lots more great adventures. 😀
Thanks for your kind comments. Yes, we were just under the cloud for most of the day so it was nice to get some views. Got to go back and do the other 5 on the other side of the road at some point. I might take my mountain bike along for that one. :-) Thanks for watching!
Hello mate. Happened across your channel while scoping out Gallt yr Ogof / Y Foel Goch for a wild camp. Not a bad spot for a first solo wild camp for you. Enjoyed that, subbed and looking forward to catching up with your stuff. All the best.
Thanks for your message. It is a great spot and a bit quieter than Llyn Caseg-Fraith. I was lucky with the weather and the light was special. Just been on another wild camp in the Berwyns, so that'll be out in about a months time. Hopefully the weather will pick up soon. Hope you have a great time when you get up there. 😀
A great film, thanks. When I was there two years ago, half a dozen motorbike came screaming over Pont Scethin and up the hillside you went up. Besides that it was very peaceful.
Keep the bobble! Bertie would have to change his name to Henry Hat or something… and he loves being Bertie the bobble hat. It’s a fine bobble, which could, in time, become great friends with Gertie’s hairy muff 😂
Thanks, I really enjoyed this one. It's got such great views from the top. I'm looking forward to going back so that I can look for a better descent route.
