The refs in the wash rutgers game were bad, but wash also very undisciplined. bro literally ran onto the field, not even a substitute player, just to high 5 his teammate. on the field. That's on washington not the refs.
How about using some of that billion$ TV deal to better pay well trained officials? The TV corps are swimming in profit, the uni prezs make 10s of millions, the HCs millions, the assistants 800K/yr and the players have scholarships and NIL. WE can't an offiside/no offside correct even with review?
I'm not sure if, in my entire lifetime, I've ever watched a more fun podcast than this one! I mean, you can literally feel the pain oozing down from SLC to Tucson and it's GLORIOUS!!
Just curious, have any of you Utah fans considered Arizona might have a good team that you guys lost to? All of you guys speak like Arizona was supposed to be a push over team, that clearly went against you. Any way, Hook ‘em.
It was coach Whittingham who chose to start the freshman QB, Wilson. Cam has been cleared to play for the last two games. It's obvious that coach Whitt has a new shiny toy in Isaac Wilson. So much so, that he's actually obsessed with his new toy and selected him twice in games that Rising should have started. Rising might be at 95%, but his 95% is still better than Wilson's 100%. In the two seasons that Rising has started, he's won two conference championships. Rising is a winner. This is his last year. It's shameful to see coach Whitt not select him. You could see the frustration on Cam's face at the beginning of the game with AZ, that he wasn't selected to start. I blame coach Whittingham for that loss. He needs to just retire already and let coach Scally take over. There's no reason that we should have lost that game, and Rising of all people knows it.
To be Fair, UofA didn't seem right those first few games. That wasn't AZ Football. They seem to be settling in now and getting their groove back. BTFD!
Not sure about that. Arizona only won 1 three way tie for conference championship in football in 1993 during almost 50 years in the PAC-10 & PAC-12! Utah won 2 conference championships in 13 years in the PAC-12 and was Southern Division champ 4 times.
All of these teams will eventually take a loss. It's one game the sun comes up tomorrow. The rest of the season will be a dogfight. The teams that hold serve at home, then win the lion's share of their road games will be in Arlington. K-State also gets a bye they'll need it playing Colorado in Boulder in 2 weeks. Time to heal, time to prepare.
Sooo hilarious how these ultra smug Utah fans bail on their team early in the 4th and then go online afterwards and go off on a rant. I'm laughing my ass off but completely expected based on my experiences with Utah fans. 🤣
I put most of this loss on the coaches. Whitt is stubborn and thinks we (the Utes) can overpower opponents, while we keep getting stuffed on 4th and one or two. The O-line isn’t that good! Take the points! If we took the 6 points we lost out on yesterday, due to coaches decision (and vanilla play calling in the red zone), the last drive(s) we could have ran or passed while trying to tie the score. Instead we were desperate and had to pass in a hurry being down 13. Bad defense last night and poor plan IMO. We didn’t stop the run, zero sacks and we let McMillan catch passes. Our offense is blah. Ludwigs offense is too complicated and hasn’t produced well since the first Rose Bowl season IMHO. With all the talent we have, it’s been so disappointing to not have any offensive explosion. Long drives and always going for it on 4th down is not sustainable and we don’t score many points as a result. Last year our most explosive play was the first play against FL. This year it was the pass on the wheel route against Southern Utah. Not a lot since…
It's still early and there's a lot to play for. As a Cats fan, I love it. And I completely understand your frustration. But the meat of the schedule is still on your plate as it is ours. Bear Down from Tucson.
That BYU, Colorado, Iowa State stretch is where we learn Utah's fate. The Ute's just need to find a way to get Rising on the field. Sadly, I'm just not sure Rising is that interested in playing football anymore.
I stayed up late to watch this game. I think that they where over looking UA. Today has been wild in BXII today But there is still a lot of football left to play.
@@wildute6958 Well you’ve got me there. It is the truth, and shows a character flaw. I have been exposed to my “Ute” coworkers and family since 1974. This toxic interplay has created the man I am today. I have respect for Kyle Whittingham and the Ute football team. But not so much for the vocal (Maybe minority) fan base. The only fan base I’ve ever been exposed to that was more vile than Utah, is Wyoming. Now what would be the German word for “hater”..
It’s a tough loss. It just shows the B12 is wide open this year but the candidates for a second team in the playoff are dwindling as the teams cannibalize each other.
The reliance on Cam Rising is part of the main problem for Utah. The Utes don't necessarily need Rising. They need to establish an identity for the offense as a whole, no matter who the QB is.
@@wildute6958 As I hinted at, the reliance on Rising has become so great that there seems to be an unwillingness by Utah to develop any other QB to lead the offense. Hence, Utah's identity on offense?
Arizona won this game. They were the better team last night. Crazy. They played more physical than Utah and Fifita cooked in the 4th. It’s hard to digest. Need Rising
Wild Ute, it sucks to lose, but it's the Big 12, anybody, anytime. Was hoping Cyclone's & Utes would be undefeated for the late season clash. Still think Utah is top notch but I think it's on the coach for the fact that Utah didn't address the QB issue in off-season knowing Rising is an injury magnet. This race is far from over, but my hopes of 2 Big 12 teams in CFP is beginning to dimmer.
Right! Like coming on Rising. How can you sit on the bench and watch the true freshman struggle when you can go. Hope that Rising is back for the Cyclones game.
I won’t act like I watched the game but as an outsider, it’s unfair to the fans that Whitt continues to take the piss regarding Cam’s health. He knew better than to go into the season without an experienced backup & Cam knew better than to get himself injured during a blowout. I know people said it was a dirty play but he should’ve given himself up. I’ve played with guys like Cam, they just can’t help themselves. It’s clear to me Whitt has no respect for the Big 12 from the way he’s been conducting himself since Utah announced they were coming to the league. Whitt thinks these teams are beneath him & they can just line up and push everybody around. Without Cam, Utah isn’t a playoff team imo but it might be better in the long run to move on from Cam & continue bedding in Wilson.
Another factor is that these 2 teams have a long history in conference play against each other so there is a lot of film to draw from. Arizona's execution at the line of scrimmage, quite honestly, shocked me. As a Wildcat fan I really expected to get boat raced by the Ute's, but was pleasantly surprised to see them keep the game in front of them and control the line of scrimmage for most of the game. A few other factors are that Coach Brennan changed the OC and Dorian Singer is a former Wildcat whose moves are known by the DB's. Still kind of scratching my head on this one but will take the win.
So, you didn't even watch the game but feel entitled to make a judgment of the play where Cam Rising was injured! Ridiculous. That hand injury wasn't Rising's fault. The Baylor lineman, Treven Ma 'ae, threw him into the Baylor Gatorade table after they were out of bounds! It >was< a dirty play! And the sucky Big-12 ref, Tatu Salaam, didn't even take a look at the play for unnecessary roughness, while it was all over the telecast and the stadium screen. They >are< dirty. I've watched a lot of football and the Big-12 refs are amateurish compared to the PAC-12. Utah has a tough D and is in the top 5 in time of possession in the FBS. But so far, they're well behind the Big-12 refs' time of possession of their football games! Geez, I've never seen such a 💩 show! One talking head dude said they threw so many flags they'd have to do laundry at halftime because half the flags they threw ended up being: 'nm, there was no penalty on the play.'
@@zonacrsNot even close. The Utes had by far the greatest time of possession in the first half and drove down field at will, so AZ certainly wasn't controlling the line of scrimmage. And Singer was the leading receiver in the game, with 9 receptions for 155 yards! So, if they had any familiarity with his game, it sure didn't help! The Utes simply had an easily rattled, inexperienced true freshman QB, who can pass in the open field pretty well, but can't scramble, can't avoid sacks and didn't play well in the red zone, thanks to Ludwig's conservative play calling. And just so you know, the Utes' total win-loss record against Arizona over the years is 26-20-2. The Utes won 4 division championships and 2 outright PAC-12 Championships in 13 years in the league. The Wildcats won 1 three way tie for the conference championship (when it was the PAC-10) in football in 1993. Arizona played a good game after Fifita got warmed up, though. They've almost always caused the Utes trouble, especially after they first joined the PAC-12. Hopefully, both teams can make a good showing in the Big-12.
It’s especially painful to me because Utah lost at home on my birthday. I freaking had to rearrange my schedule to be to that game tonight and my day is ruined. God I hate Arizona. Especially when they scored that one touchdown and then goaded on the fans after it in the north end zone. Rice Eccles was CRAZY loud after Utah finally scored that touchdown and Fifita absolutely silenced it in about two seconds. I freaking went into work today @ 5:30 am so I could be to that game tonight. After being there last night until 10:30 PM. Why the hell do they refuse to kick field goals on fourth down in there red zone? TAKE THE FREAKING POINTS!!!! That touchdown in the 4th quarter would have TIED THE GAME if they simply would have kicked two field goals!!!! Pisses me off
40:00 I don’t know why people are so enamored with the idea of a subdivision below the power 4 with its own tournament. If that happens there is going to be a mass dieoff of football programs because the media revenues are going to drop to FCS levels but those programs are still going to be on the hook for 80 scholarships. Mind you that FCS and D-II themselves have been slowly dying for years, losing teams to FBS, D-III and dropping football altogether. Between Title IX and the House settlement, lower programs just aren’t going to be able to afford to field football teams anymore. Mind you, that’s what the SEC wants. The thing I don’t think they’re factoring in, though, is that the continued popularity of football is by no means guaranteed. If the SEC gets its way and it and the B1G are the only entities playing scholarship college football anymore, the quality of talent in the NFL is going to drop as there just aren’t as many players available to draft anymore. Combine that with the handcuffs that teams with prime QB contracts face in terms of keeping their teams together and you have a recipe for unappealing teams that fail to capture the attention of a generation (Alpha) that’s already turning towards soccer ⚽️ in a major way. This will inevitably trickle down to the college level as outside of the South, interest in the NFL helps drive interest in the sport altogether.
