Ohh no...I missed it due to some office meeting time clash. I watched the recording. I seriously love the way you wrote your books and I'm early subscriber of Cloud Bites TV as well. You and Dan is people i really admire and recommend your published work to every newbie if there are asking me what to read since I've go through personally and i really enjoy the entire journey Here is what I'm suggesting to all the newbies for Apex Level 1: Learning Apex by Paul Battisson level 2 : Mastering Apex by Paul Battisson Level 3: Advance Apex Programming by Dan Appleman If any one really want to master apex. read the book in the same order again it depends on your learning curve. since i did it in the same order. Huge Fan Paul !!
Thanks for the review, Paul. As someone who has done DevOps in the past, I was really in two minds about whether I should buy this book or not. Your review has helped me make the decision.
Glad you liked the review and it’s a great book. I’m lining up one of the authors, Rob, for the podcast soon as well so I’m sure he will have some more useful tidbits
Actually more, there are also audit columns as well. Although a specific number is not available you can see more on the structure in this article architect.salesforce.com/fundamentals/platform-multitenant-architecture
You would need to do some custom work to save it as a file and then save that for attachment. It’s not what this component is built for. It sounds like you probably just need to use the standard Scheduled Reports feature to run and email a report on a schedule help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sf.reports_schedule.htm&type=5
Yes, I know about that feature, but it is only available in classic and the reports are sent a bit odd, like columns barely have space between them and what I want to do is send the report with the colors on it and attach it but classic doesn't let me do both, any ideas on how can I make this work?
If the subscription feature in Lightning doesn’t work then your alternative is to build in Visualforce and render as a PDF file to send possibly. Or have the component. Render an svg file you can save.
@@cloudbitestv Yes I was trying to do that but got so overwhelmed since I´m new as a front end dev and didn´t know how to actually do it haha, thanks tho It seems I was going towards the right way
I thought strongly typed meant that you have to press the keys really hard... :D Thanks for the intro video (and other videos). I'm several months into learning the SF platform and will be picking up your book this weekend (Mastering Apex Programing). Wish me luck! Keep up the good content Paul!
@@cloudbitestv already got it after searching about you. Do you also do video tutorial for developer? please let me know. Really happy to join it Thx you so much for your time
Hi Paul, I've come a long way since starting my wizard using your video. I'm at the point where I'd like to be able to join the wizard at any one of my 4 steps. (There's a 4 level hierarchy of objects). I've tried this by embedding it in a VF page and using ? parameters with success in terms of landing in the right spot and populating variables, but I've found while embedded in the VF calls to @saleforce/schema and lightning/uiObjectInfoApi fail with 403 errors. They work if I use the component without the VF, but then I can't find a way to jump straight in at step 3 etc. Do you have any tips on implementing such a thing?
Hi Paul, this was a really cool video. I had another enhancement to build on top of it and I wanted to take some ideas. What if there's a Back button as well which can take you back a wizard. I was able to handle navigation but when I change the wizard it's old data is lost. How do you suggest on storing that temporary data and pass it in between the wizards so not all information is lost when user clicks Back? I'll be really grateful if you can provide any clues or guidance on it. Thanks!
Paul, this is good work, especially when all we have on the web is lwc-recipes. Not that it's not great, but this is something unique in the sense of usage of multiple components and events. I started taking your recommendations the day I saw your analysis on CPU time and for-loops. I knew that you are a detail-oriented person. Here's an ask. If you could build a responsive page using lightning web components and make share your view on whether you would use an external stylesheet and load it using loadStyle or would you localise styles to components? I'd love to hear you opinion on that. I haven't seen anyone sharing their opinion on something like this.
Good question. My LWC level is still on lwc-recipes level, so I'd also like to hear Paul's word. I started to look into "component driven" mindset, one of things those web component (not LWC) advocates say is to create self-contained CSS, so don't rely on external and nor pollute external CSS. This makes good sense to me. In addition, in case we do wanna load external css, we can always use @api attributes or targetConfig properties to control the toggle.
