small streams in Poland are dying :-( water drops to minimum in summer months, locals take all fish above 30 cm home, trout barely survives in such streams.

Yes, it's a shame :( But I was rather surprised at how many fish I caught in this video, this stream seemed to be a bit healthier than others I have previously fished, apart from the rubbish. Thanks again for your comments :)

Beautiful countryside and, unfortunately, a lot of trash in the creek.
@deanoproduktions
@deanoproduktions Месяц назад
Yes, it's certainly a minus about the rivers here for sure. The national park streams are of course very clean, but you aren't allowed to fish in them.
@awaken77
@awaken77 Месяц назад
if trash would be the only problem. Polish mentality :-( take every fish home , often using illegal gear (like lures with trebles, where fly fishing only permitted). also poor water management from state - devastating rivers by concrete walls and straightening. that's why we only have 10-15 cm trout in such streams
@deanoproduktions
@deanoproduktions Месяц назад
@@awaken77 Yes, some very good points here and thank you for sharing. I think it's also a worldwide problem. Even in Tasmania (my home), we are experiencing similar problems with our rivers. There is less trash because there are less people but the fishing is suffering because of bad management combined with changes in climate. I agree with you totally.

Another great vlog. Have never fished the Meander River, but have it on my list. How did you locate your access point? Are there many access points?
@deanoproduktions
@deanoproduktions 3 месяца назад
Hi mate. Yes, there are many access points and there is even a map you can grab for free from any fishing tackle shops. I usually get mine from the Essential Fly Fisher in Launceston. This map clearly shows you the many access points, alternatively any road bridge can give you access. Further upstream towards Huntsman Lake is better suited for fly fishing and wading, however spinning is still effective and downstream towards the junction with the South Esk river can also be a good section for spinning. Just beware of the very slippery rocks if you are wading :) There is also a brochure online on the ifs website: www.ifs.tas.gov.au/fisheries/waters-a-z/meander-river/

Hi Geoff, yes very slippery indeed! I actually fell in three times on this trip :D I just accessed the river in the usual locations, they are not secret spots at all. I fished both from the road bridge at Nunamara and also further up at another bridge at Diddleum Plains. Good luck :)

Hello mate! I live by the Mierzawa river.There are only few spots where You can meet graylings.Trouts,chubs,perches,ides(also golden orfes),roaches are much more common.As You probably know,trout season starts on February.I live close to Sędziszów, usually fishing with spinning rather than fly, but still can give some tips about river.

Hi. Nice yt channel. One tip from me. To ensure the safety of trouts in such small streams, it is better not to include the names of rivers in this type of videos. Tight lines.

Hi Tomasz, yes I have been told this a few times now, my mistake. I won't be doing this anymore. In fact, I'm currently editing out any text or mention of river names. I hope no damage has been done. Thanks and all the best :)

Just FYI - intentionally fishing for trout in closed season (from the beginning of September till the end of December or January, it depends) is forbidden and seemed as unethical in Poland, even if you release them. When you catch one, by accident while fishing for grayling, you should release immediately, without taking photos or filming.
@deanoproduktions
@deanoproduktions 7 месяцев назад
Hi Filip and thank you for your feedback, it is very important to me. I always aim to abide by the rules and regulations outlined in the angling code and by the information I have in my fishing license, wherever that may be, (even in Poland). Maybe there is some confusion here? The information I have states that you can fly-fish (spinning is banned) during this period and that only taking trout is banned, meaning that they can be caught on fly but released. As far as I am aware in the region of Świętokrzyskie, these are the rules, unless I have been misinformed? I know that the rules/regulations are different in many regions of Poland and sometimes confusing, especially for foreigners like me. If I am doing the wrong thing I will stop immediately. If this is the case, I don't understand why some rivers don't have a fishing ban in this period if you can't catch trout in a stream where most of the fish seem to be trout? I want to double check the rules and see what they are exactly. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. All the best :)
@filipkostrzewa9865
@filipkostrzewa9865 7 месяцев назад
@@deanoproduktions No problem, I was sure that you just weren't informed enough. Rules of amateur angling in Poland say: 3.1. In the waters used by PZW, you can fish around the clock, except for the waters of the land of trout and grayling where you are allowed to fish only from dawn to dusk, i.e.1 hour before sunrise and 1 hour after sunset. 3.2. It is prohibited to fish during the protection periods and in designated conservation areas, such as spawning grounds, breeding sets, wintering grounds, nurseries. It is prohibited to fish within the protection and farming areas. Which literally means, that you are not allowed to fish for a certain species during its period of protection, not only killing them. Fishing for and killing certain species are two different things under PZW rules. And in many fisheries where killing either trout or grayling is banned altogether, periods of protetion are still a thing. Also, this is why the other rules state that you are obliged to release fish under any protection (whether during closed season or under certain size) without any hesitation - and that means taking photos etc. While the latter rule is sometimes neglected, the former one is almost always observed (at least among serious angler and trount&grayling anglers are usually of that breed), because it means fishing for a certain species during its spawning season. Periods of protection are usually the same as spawning seasons. Also, this is why spinning is banned - because it's considered as a method of fishing for trout and almost never for grayling in Poland, so with the intention of not disturbing trouts while they spawn, spinning was disallowed. Fly fishing is still an option, because it's an open grayling season. Tight lines!

Thank you@@filipkostrzewa9865 I really appreciate the clarity here :) I was only fishing trout and grayling waters but to my surprise I haven't even seen a single grayling, let alone caught one. I have only ever caught one grayling but during summer. I only seem to catch trout or the odd chub. But I will take your advice onboard. Cheers :)
@filipkostrzewa9865
@filipkostrzewa9865 7 месяцев назад
@@deanoproduktions That's because "trout&grayling" is more of a legal term for the sake of rules rather than reflecting reality :) Trout is much more common across Poland, while grayling is rather limited to southern and northern waters
