I first discovered Blue Santa from an article on a site called, "The Travel" The article, "23 International Versions of Santa That Make No Sense", listed Blue Santa - The Real Santa (United States) at Number 16. I read the entry, then did some digging, saw this video, and now I am 100% convinced that The Blue Santa Claus is the Real Santa Claus... as cliché as it sounds. Blue has always been my favorite color, and although as a kid, I would find it odd why manufacturers would produce Santa wearing a blue robe and such (since Santa in red is considered the norm), I now know why thanks to the information I learned. Blue Santa, for me, is the new norm, and that's a Santa Claus I'll be embracing for years to come. I even ordered a 16 inch Santa figurine for my mini Christmas tree. The figurine shows Santa wearing royal blue, with white and silver details to his attire, including snowflakes on the bottom of his robe.
As a diatonic player for several decades, I've been wanting to learn chromatic for a long time, but put if off because it seems like starting all over again. I think I'll make the leap and pick up the SCX 64. Thanks for a very useful introduction to this model. Incidentally, I did buy a complete set of Suzuki diatonics a few years back. They had great tone but weren't very durable in my opinion. It looks like their chromatic is more heavily constructed. Thanks again.
Hi David, I assume Suzuki SCX64 is comparable Hohner 280C given both have 16 holes, am I right? Do you have any comment compare SCX64 with 280C, in terms of responsiveness,sound effect? Thanks!
Woww this is some of the deepness I feel when two souls collab! I always like it when Dan & Rachel play - yet Ive heard great flutists play with her as well. Nothing beats that all impromptu jam in Barberton tho!!
At 3:16 you said "two notes, separated by an octave"......Are you sure?......usually pushing the button simply plays the sharp. Not jump an entire octave, where on the device is C4 next to C5 my ears are pretty good and those two notes aren't an entire octave apart...In fact I have just held a chromatic tuner to the speaker and it goes from C4 to Db4 (otherwise known as C#). You might be great at the harp but poor at theory
@Joshua Immanuel I think you need to re-read your music theory....an Octave is eight notes....with flats and sharps it becomes 12 tones....I DO know what an octave is....Also, owning quite a few Chromatics and Diatonics...I THINK I know what a slide does...duh

Thank you for playing both the Suzuki SCX 64 and the Hohner 280C because I was stuck between the two and needed to hear their sound. I own a Hohner Special 20 and am a fan of its brighter tones. Most of the music I want to play is pop and something experimental :), so I'm glad to hear how the Suzuki compares. I think I might get it as my first Chromatic.
Are you able to do a video of pictures showing the history of black people who lived and worked the canals. I found you video very interesting and it seems that you are the only person I have found , who has sadly a forgotten history unknown and untold. Many thanks for inlighting us on something that we would never have known happened. It is to easy for people to wipe history and tell us what they see fit for us to believe.
I guess some people are a little bit envious of Chrissie moving to the U.K. and making something good of her Life we love her in england and she is not has been she a beautiful Rock Queen with a great Voice and great band LMAO ..
Hi David ..could you please suggest that which key chromatic harmonica produces lower pitch almost in the saxophone range ..because I prefer a lower pitch ..I have been trying to find an answer .. will the key of g like Suzuki g 48 suit the tone I am looking for?

I noticed that when he closed his eyes and sang he was more fluid, more musical. I saw some of his other videos, he sings very well. He loves music. He should try to that with the harmonica.

I love this guys enthusiasm and energy, but he never wrote a riff or melody that ended up on the cutting room floor, and for all his peace and love for all hype, he sure says me my me me mine a lot. And he needs to get a new stage name, Zach! hahah.

I'm still wondering just why anyone with a tiny bit of musicality would post such a terrible example of jazz on the chromatic harmonica. As far as I can see, guys, David and Josh, , you're really doing a disservice to anyone wanting to augment their knowledge of the instrument by reading online information. Why not just stop, go home, get a teacher who can familiarize you with the basics and come back in a few years with at least a small degree of skills. Please. Stop. thanks in advance.
