Lovely congratulations with your elderly lady the crown hotel .it looks lovely place . Well, you cane north , you had better watch out them as you are close to the boarder and the Roman wall .
The Christmas Market in Carlisle was lovely! Amazing effort with the Christmas lights, baubles on the trees and the decorations, plus the 'Merry Christmas Carlisle' lights were a lovely touch. The Market has mostly food stalls but the atmosphere among the traders was very Christmassy and joyful. We went yesterday on the first opening day and it was great as bigger markets tend to just have repetitive stalls but the Carlisle Market had everything you needed and was a good size for everyone. They have a mulled wine bar too called Box Bar where you can grab a drink outside after your shopping. I recommend a visit to it as you won't be disappointed.
I hope you realise it's not real. It's made of rubber and plastic and it was part of an art project. The 'scientists' are actors simulating testing and examining it. It was sprayed with fishy smelly water to make it more authentic. It was taken to Belgium after a couple of days for 'refurbishment' by the original sculptor. Then it went to Poland to be exhibited there.
It was a fantastic weekend! I had a go at StarShot, met the legend that is George Digweed MBE, had some free hog roast and can't speak highly enough of the organisation and effort that was put in by all the staff! There was a fantastic, friendly atmosphere to the place. REALLY enjoyable. Hopefully, Westlands will put the same on next year!!!
Left the City in 1970 but used the Turkish Baths every Friday while I was there. Wonderful experience, especially the plunge pool after your shower. Will attend once more when I get back for a visit to the City.
