Already used this video for the j-mod, was a success but 1 year later my shifting selenoid gave out so I took it out and I took out a extra screw out and I went crazy not knowing what held it ton of videos but I remembered this one shows how to take out every bolt and it’s function I’m calm now
My only question, and I have read the documents outlining the procedures (thank you for that!!!), what is the purpose of marking 1, 3, 6, 7, and 8 as there is no mention of them in the documents. I can see they are already larger in this plate than either of the suggested sizes.
My 2004 Marauder has a tune and a very aggressive transmission shift. It is made even more pronounced by solid rear control arms and 4.10 gears. My 2004 Town car is a low mileage garage queen and completely stock chassis-wise. On both cars I use your transmission fluid pump technique to change the fluid occasionally especially in Florida where heat kills auto transmissions. I just consulted this video this morning for a fluid swap on the Lincoln. It only yields ~4 quarts so I did it three times and used a case of fluid. The color change is quite impressive!! Thank you for posting this and sharing your knowledge and expertise!
I saw some clutch material not a lot but some. Could i go ahead and atleast do the 1-2 spring delete? I had already bought the upgraded style piston i have a 96 4r70w
So hey, I just picked up a p71 and it shifts amazing for one of these. If I mod it, do I really need to get any extra replacement parts, like balls and all that? Or is it going to last with just the mod you did in this video?
5:35 I have a question: if it is not healthy enough for the j-mod what is recommended to do next? My plan is to rebuild a 4r70w completely and do the j-mod. Excellent video thus far.
Can I use this procedure on my 2001 150? I went to a forum but I keep seeing conflicting answers. I just rebuilt the trans basically all new inside but I want to prolong it and make it a little bit better.
@@Jmodderator I should clarify that my hands sometimes shake pretty bad when I'm trying to do things, so I just feel like doing this on the bench would make it much easier for me. For the average Joe it's probably way more feasible to do it in vehicle.
Most helpful video on youtube ever if ya wanna “haul ass” in an early mod motor auto car. Second time ive done this and needed this video. Thinking third time i might be able to get away without it😂
Best way to tell PRN (D) 21. With Overdrive button at column shifter knob. If you have a 4 speed w/ Over drive then you may have the 4R70W, Google to confirm though.
Great vid! But hearing the engagement on those raised panel craftsman ratchets at 37:10 is bringing back nightmares to those decades of use when I thought they were decent ratchets. Now I shudder at the thought of being stuck with them over literally anything else, this isn't a Snap-On Dual80 is the best comment, it's an "even any of the cheapest amazon brands are 1000x better" comment......
My 2000 mustang GT shifts fine all the way through overdrive if over half throttle, but granny driving the overdrive revs up 1500 rpm before shifting. Would the J Mod help this?
If it's the return cool line returning to the transmission, why is the fluid comming out of the transmission hose? Would not the supply line to the tranmsiion from the cooler be flowing. How is that line not the supply line to the cooler, that is transmission line out?
