for "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood" I would have gone with the 1 Min of Silence with Fred & Lloyd. Where its both of them in a diner and its silence for 1 Minute

You should use Disclosure. Donald Sutherland, Michael Douglass and that Phil guy all add asmr to the mix. And for Sutherland, you'll love Lock Up. Really good dialogue.
This is a thing! Im an 80s kid, so it is a thing to see Greg Sumner as a Boss as he is and running Lex Luthor Sr. Both being run by the boss of bosses KK the Whisler who played a villain in the past. lol. Very casting.
OK so I'm not nuts..I've watched William Devane's scenes in Payback many times because I found his voice so soothing, and couldn't figure out why. I thought I was the only one..thanks for posting this
It's so refreshing to see other people enjoying William Devane in Payback. I first watched the movie some years ago and was hypnotized by the precision and crispness of his voice and I didn't exactly understand why. There were other voices or sound effects over the years that I found especially pleasing and, again, I didn't know what ASMR was until its somewhat recent viral rise. For a long time, I felt strange and generally didn't comment on the idea to friends or family, not knowing what it was. Once I became aware of the concept, it was a relief, knowing it's actually a common interest for many people, hence the tons of videos on YT. It also gave me a keyword to search for to feed my interest. One of my earliest realizations of ASMR before I knew what it was called was the strong, crisp sound of actors walking on gravel (or maybe snow too) or actors walking around with a lot of noisy equipment (typically soldiers). It's mainly a thing from 1980s era movies, some from the 1990s. I think it has a lot to do with the audio equipment used, probably still analog at the time, and overall sound design. When you find a movie with that sort of character, it's an ASMR lover's wet dream.
Indeed. Devane's manner of speaking, at least in this film, is very satisfying, almost hypnotic. Have you seen the Straight Up version of Payback? Devane's dialogue after Resnick is dismissed is gone, but other stuff was deleted too, while additional things were changed and added. I like it more and think it is the better version, but many folks disagree and prefer the theatrical version.
I love it when Carter asks , " ..where did you get the one hundred thirty thousand dollars ? " the look on Vals face , like when your hand is caught in a cookie jar .
That was thought about Knots William Devane, their is a pit Jack Nicholson about him , not as good as him. But William Devane could have been a hollywood A-lister. But look he is a great actor anyway.
There's this thing called the internet, where you can comment on videos, look up stock quotes, porn, and sometimes search for other information like "What is ASMR?"
YES. I just posted a comment with a similar note. I've always liked strong footsteps as well as crispy, crunchy footsteps on gravel. There's a song - Agalloch, "The Lodge" - which opens with fantastic snow footstep ASMR.
That Mr Rogers one was brilliant like they deliberately re-did it just to try to make it seem more relaxing since actual Mr Rogers had a slightly edgier voice
I could not seem to understand why I am so fascinated with William Devane's voice, especially in the movie "Payback". I have replayed that same scene over and over in the movie "Payback" because I find his voice so soothing and relaxing. I finally know why now, its ASMR. I didn't think such a feeling or small sensation has an actual term and explanation, I don't feel weird now because evidently this is a common feeling and/or response from an average person. Thanks for making and sharing this wonderful video and also thank you to Mr.Devane for helping bring me peace, comfort, and relaxation in this stressful world we live in. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
THANK YOU. Finally someone else found the ASMR value in William Devane's scenes in PAYBACK. His voice is sublime. His gestures and movements are so efficient and smooth and soothing. I'm so seriously amazed and happy that someone put this up.
I was thinking the exact same thing! Great perspective :) Devane sets the mood of power and wisdom, and frightening heavy duty violence, all while talking softly. Unbelievable. What a treat finding this clip. You know, there is another who can do this...Powers Boothe. See him try to outsmart Matthew McConaughey in "Frailty". Great post eromacque :)
Now I loved Devane in knots , Now I don't if anyone agrees with me. William Devane could have had big-screen career , because a pit Jack Nicholson about him, but not as good.
