I switched to a polypropylene bokken after a training bout with one of Obata's students. His white oak broke my beechwood bokken, if he wasn't skilled enough to pull his strike after shattering my bokken, I would likely have been knocked out or concust. I still keep the broken bokken as a reminder that there is always someone or something more powerful. In following bouts with the polypropylene bokken(s) my bokkens haven't broken or shattered.
I found a baby's teething toy that does a similiar thing but currently use a mala with bone beads. Funny thing is that the baby's toy has a nice rattle to them while pinching the wrists at the end of punches which I believe helps for toughening the hands. I have a brief clip up comparing the two. would like to buy and compare all three one day.
I have the low top green triangle shoes, but the soles are so curved (concave) that I am unable to get a proper flat grip on the floor. I would not recommend them
man do asians actually have like a perk that helps them with martial arts due tu epigenetic or is it cultural or both maybe like bro youd kick my ass for sure and basically any bastard you gonna need to but this like asian twink guy who i swear cant be more than 30 has already mastered like every single martial art known to man well im being hyperbolic n shit but still he a legend
It is far older than any other tia ji system, founded by a taoist on Mount Hua shan known as the sleeping immortal who was also the founder of the internal system Liu ho ba fa , the six harmonies and the eight methods also known as water boxing. Some historians say this was in the Tang Dynasty, 5th century. I have been practicing it most days for 39 years. The traditional shape is important for reasons to complex too go into here. The one shown here is not correct. What I practice is the authentic system that comes from the late Master Fong Ha a very well known and super skilled Tai ji and Yi Chuan master who taught in the Bay area of San Fransisco and learnt from a family in Hong kong who claim a lineage back to the sleeping immortal. It needs the correct internal instructions transmitted with it, which are very similar indeed to those that animate the Old Wu Hao style of Tai ji. Do not be fooled by the apparent simplicity. It offers a gateway to understanding internal power and is not a beginners method, but Fong Ha told me that ifhe were to teach tai ji to beginners again he would start with the ruler to activate the tantien which is one of it’s main purposes. sjwyard@yahoo.co .uk10:47 10:47 10:47 10:47
Interesting, the second clip (the black and white one) is my kung fu brother. My shigong, Lu Zhen Duo was a bodyguard around the second Sino-Japanese war and often carried the Emei piercers hidden in his long sleeves.
I've had 3 pairs over the span of 5 years and you might get some wear on the logo depending on how hard you train, but I've never had any issue with peeling or anything. Logo is still there on the 2 pairs I have left
Yellow is too easy, red and blue pretty easy. Black I had to try actually worth its salt. I can break read and blue together but not red, blue and yellow.
In my experience working with wood, red oak is prone to splitting. Over time, the grain degrades with repeated impact. White oak has a better reputation, but if you're going to be beating on it, hickory is a lot stronger. For sparring, HEMA armor allows full contact combat with foam weapons.
Just wondering, have the latest Sandee gloves also followed Fair tex and Twins into the trash can? , guessing they have, what a shame these 3 brands have screwd us ☹️ dont mess your hands up peeps these brands are a shadow of their former selves, not worth it. Love Shan🙏
Emei piercers are a weapon that evolved from Another weapon known as the judges pen which was essentially a foot long to 15 inch solid steel spiked weapon on one end in the shape of a calligraphy brush....this is according to the now deceased origami grand master Saburo Kase... Mostly known for origami once his sight began to fail...he was a great martial artist and teacher of his day... he was also my teacher, mentor and me being his sole heir , adopted father.....may he rest in peace.
Great video! I'd love to see a review on the vegan leather ones. E.g. comparison difference between the vegan leather and canvas. Please let me know if you decide to create and post a review of them!
That fairtex model of shinpad is called the SP-3. I have that pair and prefer them for all the reasons you mentioned. Low profile and high mobility - great! Awesome review man!
