When i saw this sensei i immediately subscribed because he’s a spitting image of my first sensei i had back in 1974,he was the best shotokan karate instructor I ever had in my life, rest in piece sensei Poole.
@@richardclarke8277 My teacher resides in NYC. O’Sensei Lou Ferrer US Kodokan I was in Brooklyn recently with him. Feel free to look him up and let him know how you heard about him 😉 glad you enjoyed the video. Please let me know if you have suggestions for future videos. Much love and respect.
Yes in personal protection, night club security and private events. Also Kuntao as I understand it means Fist Law or Way of the fist. Kempo is also defined in the same terms.
Sensei Carlos i have recently come across your videos and they are excellent! Very clear and concise and excellent technique. They are really helping improve the jui jitsu part of my art! Rich, 7th dan karate. OSU thank you!
Whelp my job is not to argue the point with an expert like yourself, it's to present my perspective to the best of my abilities. The fact you think mastery is more than polishing basics for a lifetime is revealing.
Great job brother you take martial arts teaching and training seriously unlike these sorry, lazy, money hungry martial arts instructors where I live (Augusta, Georgia). Now a days martial arts instructors only care about money and not teaching martial arts correctly that is why I quit my martial arts instructor and I have a black belt in Tang Soo Do karate. I want to start over in retraining in martial arts but the martial arts instructors in the Augusta, Georgia area are pathetic.
It is crazy that he is still as fast as he is. I trained with Master Ferrer for three years back in the late 90s and he still moves at the same speed. His transitions are incredibly smooth and precise.
Good video that teaches an important concept. In Chinese martial arts they often call this "standing on the bubbling spring" as the bubbling spring is the name for a point just below the ball of your foot. Not only does what you show lead to be being able to explosively move in any direction, if you keep your back straight and bend your knees a bit to sink your weight when you step you'll move your body all at once (instead of a piece at a time like normal) and eliminate telegraphing.
I like to emphasize universal movements and concepts anyone can adopt into what they do, or be a mirror of encouragement for people who are looking to develop their understanding further.
This man is the real deal when it comes to combat; this is not bjj or Mcdojo pseudo madness. I've been watching his work for a while now and he's certified
I can break any bone on any animal but this was great to watch, especially since one of my invented forms was “Stone Monkey.” Knowing anatomy is 80% of martial arts - the other 20% is physics 👌🏽
I recently was looking at some research for an upcoming video I want to do about titles and how unimportant to anything in life they are and I was reminded of your comment. Sensei does seem to be a introductory title and Kyoshi the appropriate title for teachers. That does not extend to the American Kempo systems and Jiu Jitsu systems I trained in so I refrain from those titles. In my videos I don’t have a narrator to introduce myself, so I introduce myself as I feel comfortable being addressed. I wanted to thank you again for your comment because your criticism helped me learn something new.
The older I get and the more I see in martial arts despite the name of the Ryu are same or similar wazas repackaged and sold by another Sensei. Let's call it "Private Branding", to use the language from Sales-Marketing...And the wazas is intelligible by way of the competency of the Sensei who has mastered it, and the ability to communicate clearly. Then there is the teaching part, and teaching is a skill in and by itself...This applies to Okinawan martial arts, Muey Thai (that has Okinawan influence, Chinese, and definitely Cambodian since it is really Cambodian boxing originally), and even FMA (Filipino Martial Arts, Kali, Escrima, Arnis empty hands), and even Pensak Silat, too, that incorporated a huge chunk of Chinese martial arts + Southern Indian Martial arts since they were the 1st to get to these parts before the Europeans and the Arabs for trade...And, definitely Karate is the original Mixed Martial Arts with lots of other influences including Muey Thai., Filipino Martial Arts, and Chinese Wrestling, it may surprise you.
Nothing new under the sun, human aggression and combativeness goes back to the dawn of time. It’s survival and the ability to communicate what you have learned and pass it on. Repackaging is interpretation adaptation and application.
Excellent instruction. My only suggestion is for you to add a Caveat of Legal Disclaimer in order to avoid civil litigation should anyone watch this presentation, and injure someone else.
Nice techniques. You don't see much self defense instruction applying to a seated position like this. These could be very useful if someone hops into your car with bad intentions. 🙏
I'm disappointed that you would use his death to #Clickbait views like this. Shows your character. True video title - Cult Leader uses a Legends death for Clickbait #First
How many times has Bruce Lee been on the cover of Black BELT magazine since his passing? Gene was a hero of mine and I wanted 1 for people to know who he was and his contributions to me and the martial arts. I purchased his Panther Production videos over 2 decades ago and they left a large impression on me. 2 You should know someone’s character before you jump to invalid conclusions. Gene Lebelle was the best if one person clicked on my video and then looked him up it was all well worth my time. Each one teach one.
