New Renaissance - Where old furniture comes back to life
Hi, my name is Leen. I live in Belgium and work full time at a holiday resort. In my free time I love to go on bikepacking adventures (I recently created another channel for that too, by the way), multiple day hikes and... refurbish old furniture. It gives me lots of joy to know you saved an old piece of furniture from the dumpster.
This was exactly what i wanted to do with my two old furniture pieces, thank you for such a detailed tutorial also showing how beautiful does it look in the end damnnn!!
Absolutely breathtaking. I've just found your page tonight and have watched 5 videos so far! But I love this piece above all the others. The lavender is beautiful and your touches with the gold stencil are such inspiration as I delve into my first chalk paint piece. Thank you for sharing!
I use a round detail brush for the black wax in the corner. It really doesn't need to be a fancy brush. The gilding wax can be applied by your finger. 😊😊
Hello. Looks amazing. I recently bought the baur chalk paint in classic black but when I used it the color is more like a really dark gray. It's not what I was looking for as I was hoping for a dark black. Can you tell me what your impressions are of the color that you're using from Anna Sloan. Is it a true black or just really dark gray?
thank you for this informative video! great job. I understand that this glazing technique works well with the types of furniture that have frames, curves, engravings etc. where the glaze stays after wiping, but what if I need to glase a simple painted stool that doesn't have those? Its very basic stool, just legs and the top, and I wonder what stays and where when I cover it with the glaze and wipe afterwards. I painted it in nice yellow, but wanted to add some used antique look with dark edges and some dark patina around the joints. But the issue is that using your technique the glaze at the edges, where I do want it to stay, will most probaly get wiped off. What do you think I shall do to make it look like a want? And would the whole thing work if I use watered down dark acrylic paint over the main layer of paint, also acrylic? thank you!
That's so awesome to read!! I'm glad I have just that little push you needed. 😉 I'm sure you'll create something beautiful. Thanks for your sweet words! ❤️🙏
Absolutely stunning, it’s so beautiful!! Wow!! What an incredible piece of furniture you have created!! I so hope that you are very proud of everything that you did 😊💕 It is honestly just such a special piece of art!
Thank you so much! 😍 Although it's technically not necessary to apply clear wax first, I always do so. You'll need less gilding wax, plus the smooth surface you create with the clear wax will help you to manipulate the gilding wax better. 😊 When you use posh chalk patina there's a patina extending wax especially designed for this, so you need less gilding wax or patina to cover a larger surface.
Thank you so much! ❤️ I used wood putty, but you could also use smooth embossing paste from Fusion or sand stone texture from Fusion. The stencil is called Kaleidoscope from Posh Chalk. All these materials are available at www.degoeikamer.be when you're located in europe.
