He makes more musical sense of this than any other pianist I've ever heard. And his technical command is astonishing, making what most players strive with sound like mere child's play!
My second most favorite composer played the piece of my most favorite composer is absolutely amazing…I can not fathom how heavenly it would be if Rachmaninoff performed all the Nocturnes by Chopin.I would absolutely love to listen to his playing
It sounds like a nostalgic childhood memory of a mid 1800s summer Norwegian day in town with cobblestones streets as a little boy watches the busy market and shops walking by.
@@lucassaldanha6878 RCA Victor record No. 6731 recorded in 1927. Pianist: Sergei Rachmaninoff RCA Victor heavily advertised the fact that they had Rachmaninoff as one of their performers, you'll see adverts about that in lots and lots of newpapers and the likes. Rachmaninoff himself often discussed his recording sessions with his friends and family a bunch and would write a bunch about how he felt the sessions went. I do not know why you choose to baselessly refute my comment instead of doing your own research. You're not a baby that needs to be spoonfed, I know that you are an adult who is capable of serving themselves. I won't reply to another stupid comment from your lead-head, so please just learn to do your own research for once in your life.
I'm not at all delicate when I play this piece.I get pretty rambunctious in fact. ....If R. Plays it like a whisper I guess I should play it on "soft" mode, after all HE'S R. and I'm not. 🤗🤗 Forgive me Chopin, for going all Liberace on your composition. 🤗
Kapell at his best leaves me without words. This performance is on the level of his Liszt Mephisto Waltz, his Prokofieff Third, and his Brahms D minor. Harold Schonberg wrote that Kapell possessed the quality of "command". The man had a tone of his own, which is present in this performance. He had the power to sweep an orchestra away by the drive of his phrasing. The end of this movement is such a moment. Thank You, Lord, for giving us Willie Kapell even for the short time he was here..
Its the only version that makes sense. Horowitz was said to play it best, even by Rachmaninoff. But I beg to differ. This truly sounds like the composer is playing it, the drifts in tempo, and roaring spectrum from pianissimo to fortissimo, the bite, the slide, the intrusive thoughts, the heartbreak, the celebration...there's nothing like it. Just amazing. So Profound.
