I've been a gamer and nerd my whole life, but I got into collecting LEGO in 2017. (Mainly Star Wars) I share my thoughts on sets, and Star Wars with maybe a few memes.
IMO the best course of action would’ve been to: 1. Modify the current clone helmet and put the holes lower where they should be for rangefinders 2. Introduce a new helmet with the visor moulded on for commanders, but still have the hole in the correct spot you can add a rangefinder on top of that And for those saying a unique helmet would be too expensive, LEGO gives background characters unique moulds all the time so I don’t buy that. Also they’d be reusing the helmet with so many different clones they’d make the money back easily The old visor piece is so outdated and was made specifically for the phase 1 clone. It looks horrendous on the P2 clones

Ive been selling lego sets for like, half what they actually go for because i just dont have space and, even if i miss a star wars lego set, theres always a different one ill probably like more, or a remake thatll be better
The Chinese brick companies have many of these military sets, whether is real or fantasy, they have them all. I be honest with you, some of them look really cool, like those tanks from the command and conquer games.
The problem isn’t them making one of the most beloved characters ever who we’ve waited over a decade for to get ONE figure of widely available (that’s actually the best thing they could do), the problem is the piece of marketing where they explicitly said both figures were exclusive to the Venator. I didn’t even realize they’d said that until this video, now I have a much better understanding of why some people are upset. Some are just whiners yes but it is also true because of that statement lego made that they blatantly and directly lied to their customers
The legend himself is back! You were missed, Gray! As for Rex, the only mistake I see here is that he wasn't released in an accessible set before the UCS set came out.
An excellent assessment, my friend. I agree on all points. I nearly fell into the same trap as others: buying the figure from resellers and likely paying ludicrous amounts for it. The only reason I didn’t was because of the early rumors that gave me hope. So I held out just to see if they were true, and thank god they were. Also congrats on fatherhood!

I bought it months ago when the UCS Venator first came out because I didn't think I'd get a Rex otherwise. The cloth pauldron wasn't widely available on the secondary market but the figure was. With the cloth the figure was going for $100+.
There's nothing stopping you from submitting a request to LEGO saying that you "didn't recieve" the pauldron piece for the microfighter you just bought so you can get an extra one for the other Rex figure you have.
@@DarkBluishGray that's fair, I suppose. I don't really have many clones, so I don't have a reason to personally, but I just know that there are people calling in phony complaints to get extras out there.
Then by definition people were mislead. Happens all the time in marketing. Cheap Rex is great. Would I have bought Rex months ago had I known I could just wait and get one in a micro fighter? Nope. Oh well.
The $13 Rex is a huge win, but despite his few months of Venator exclusivity, Lego _knew_ they were about to release the microfighter with Rex, yet still put that exclusivity notice in the instructions, meaning they deceived and misled their customers, which seems to have been very intentional on Lego's part. Though, on the fan's side, we've had rumors and leaks of the Rex's microfighter almost since the Venator's release, giving ample warning to spend $650 or $80 just for the fig.
I think if Lego already knew they would put the “exclusive fig” in a $650 set, they should’ve used a minifig far less controversial. Examples even like Jesse (that one clone commander at the end of season 7), maybe even a detailed Ashoka fig…. I personally purchased the ventador for the build itself, but spending so much money on it… I can’t lie I was a little disappointed the figure I got with it became… well you know. Happy for its accessibility now, but the plaque at which the fig stands on now feels shallow. (The secondary market though is awful filled with scammers and manchildren)
It was really entertaining seeing the aftermarket for this figure completely collapse. The 2013 P2 Rex even halved in value from $250 because a new Rex exists now. I’m just glad I was finally able to get my hands on a Captain Rex after all this time since my original $30 Rex from October was refunded because the seller ran out. It goes so great with my Commander Cody, Commander Gree, best clone ever Arc Trooper, & 15 Kashyyyk troopers. I made a fun joke post with it alongside all my other Rex’s like Rex Dangervest from the Lego Movie 2, CMF T-Rex minifigure, purist custom Generator Rex minifigure, & Jurassic World big molded T-Rexes.
Honestly, you make a great point. The only people who should be upset are the people who bought the rex early from the resellers even without the cape. I remember some would go up to 80$
I don’t think a single person bought the venator just for the Rex, it’s obvious to anyone that they wouldn’t be keeping Rex to the venator due to how big the character is. The venator Rex should’ve stayed exclusive by a few details because that’s how ucs figures have always worked like almost every OT UCS set and Lego blatantly lied about Rex being exclude and the people going out of their way to defend a multi billion dollar company is just a bit pathetic
This is one of those ships that its size seems different all the time. The size of this lego version looks good next to other sets but its strange how the show made the interior look so huge.
I’m getting ready to pick this set up for $80 because I missed it. It’s the one and only set from Andor Season 1 and considering how well received Andor & Rogue One are I can see it jumping in value over the next couple years so I might as well get it now before Season 2 comes out early next year and the prices climb way up.
@@DarkBluishGray yeah it sucks but the first season is probably one of my series of all time no matter how biased I am so $12 over retail was a small price to pay
