Our fridge filter only filters water for the ice make. It stops making ice adequately after 1 month so we change filters. I cut one open and found a clear slime blocking the filter area. Any ideas what this clear slime is and how to treat it?
What a load of crap. The best way to rid cholramine is to dissolve a vitamin c tablet in the water. Wait a few hours then you can cook with it. Change your fish water. Water your plants etc…
I tested our tap water ppm result is 200ppm our WELL water in the othe house is 235ppm. I bough the ZERO WATER FILTER and it filtered everything. This is the best filter in the market my filter water stay fresh
My water is at 11 hardness .. does this affect the uv light ? I had some water treatment sales guy tell me I need a water softener or the uv won’t work .
11.59 South Africa Good day John and Don, congratulations on a very interesting video. I use a Dab Easy box pump with a global water 60 litre pressure tank for our guesthouse . We work in bars in South Africa. The pump is set at 3.7 bar, and restart at 2.7 bars. The pressure tank is set at 2.2 bars. My problem is that when the pump is off and you open a tap in the house, only about 5 liters is used from the pressure tank. Then the pump restarts but over rev for a few seconds with a flow of +- 70 litres/minute, and shuts of again while tank is still supplying water is still needed in the house, and then restarts again. The Dab is a verible speed pump, and i think the demand to the guesthouse and the pressure tank at the same time is to much, and it takes the pump some time to adjust, but by that time the tank is filled again and while water is still needed in the guesthouse the pump starts again, same story. When a lot of water is needed like a washing machine, it is the same story, but the pump manage to stay on while speed goes up and down until it settles. I’m getting a countertop RO. It’s just about 30$ difference adding the UV to it. I live in a city and I don’t think bacteria is an issue, but for the $30 price would it be worth it getting with UV protection? Any negative that could out of the UV? Like radiation etc?

1. Will a salt-free water conditioner continue to make my skin feel dry due to leaving the minerals in the water? 2. Will a water softener also strip away existing scale build-up like a salt-free water conditioner does? I'm positive my 28-year-old house has scale build-up in all of the pipes. What's the best solution to having soft water but also cleaning the scale build-up from the pipes?
We have pH 6 water. The water first goes through aeration, into an aeration tank, then into a backwash calcite filter. The calcite filter traps the iron which gets flushed during backwash. It appears the upflow calcite tank would not be suitable for my application.
A good video. Some comments: You point out that waste water is an environmental concern, but miss the extreme wastefulness of quick replace cartridges having a big plastic housing that is one time use. Glad you pointed out the (ridiculous!) extra costs of the proprietary filters...I am dealing with that with my Whirlpool, and they have gotten so expensive that I am throwing the system out and starting over!!!!
