This is fantastic! I've been wanting to learn more about large arrangements ☺ i love all the blue flowers I have questions haha Do you put anything under the foam or do you basically fill the entire vase with it? Have you tried the oasis biodegradable foam? What kinds of problems have you had with biodegradable foam?
Glad you like it! I don't put anything under the foam but I do tape it in place so it doesn't topple over. I sell Oshun pouches and Agra Wool and like them! I have a whole section of eco friendly supplies if you want to check them out: flowermoxie.com/collections/eco-friendly
Great questions! - I used Oasis Midnight Foam which is 100% biodegradable after a year or so. It's not perfect, but it's the best on the market currently. - We sell Oshun Pouches, but I only use that for day of event work, because I think it kills the flowers after 24 hours - We sell AgraWool, which is super eco friendly, but personally, I don't care for it because it breaks apart and it's hard to stab the stems in but, but a lot of florists buy it so maybe I just need some lessons! - I don't fill the vase. I'm kinda cheap and sparingly with it so I just need it to stabilize my anchor pieces. For heavy transport I may add more. I hope that helps! @@FlowerMoxie That definitely helps, thank you! I've only ever used the traditional oasis foam. I didn't realise how harmful it can be to us and the environment. I'm glad they're working on better alternatives! For a diy event, do you think chicken wire is still a feasible option in terms of ease of creating the arrangement and transport? Or does it require a bit more practise and experience?
Hi! I loved your video!! Super helpful - especially about following a bit of a recipe :) I was wondering if you think chicken wire or floral foam is easier to use for a first-time centrepiece creator? Thanks 💌💌💌
Thank you so much! Floral foam is definitely easier for a first timer. Just don't get too stabby with it because that will break the foam down faster. Good luck on your first centerpiece!
I just found your channel and subscribed immediately 😊 Thank you so much for creating these videos and keeping DIY brides in mind 🥹 I can’t wait to binge watch all the videos 💕
@@FlowerMoxie also looking for your website to look at the flowers you sell. I'm starting to buy from wholesale farms and wanted to check yours out. Thank you so much
WOW. Gorgeous design and fantastic tutorial. I have NO formal training in flower design or arranging. I'm just a gardener who conditions flowers and then tries to 'make them behave' in a vase, usually without much success. But foolishly I agreed to 'do the flowers' for my niece's wedding last Saturday... I watched this repeatedly for a couple of days in the week, then without any prior practice launched myself into it with my chosen flowers of white calla lilies, a very palest pink Astilbe ( variety 'Europa'), white lisianthus and a lovely pale blush rose. I will say that with her experience she makes it look easy and I probably spent ten times as long trying to get the shape of the structuring handheld Gypsophila right (the 'stand in front of a mirror' tip is BRILLIANT). Then trying to get the fat calla stems into the naturally-spiralling bunch of Gypsophila stems is also a challenge for a clumsy beginner Nevertheless it turned out unbelievably gorgeous, just magical. Along with the other bouquets and arrangements (also helped by your videos) The other guests raved and assumed it was professional. My family was stunned, knowing my complete lack of knowledge and experience. And my sister is converted, having also been a 'jam the flowers given to you into a vase' person, is now inspired to take it up too. I can't thank you enough. You've made two newly-conjoined families very happy. (Total cost of wedding flowers, in England: under £400, so maybe $500...)
Oh wow!!! It’s amazing to hear how beautifully the flowers turned out for your niece’s wedding, and we’re thrilled that our videos helped along the way. Congratulations on creating such stunning arrangements - sounds like you nailed it! Cheers to even more flower success in the future!
We recommend placing your order at LEAST 4 weeks before your event date, but a couple months beforehand is ideal. You'll receive them 3 days before your event and you'll choose your event and delivery dates at checkout.
Thank you for this fabulous video! What is the risk/damage of 'too deep' a hydration vessel (so long as the lower head is not submerged, of course)? I've seen some growers recommend that flowers be rested up to their necks - but maybe that is only when you first cut it from the field/garden? Or your experience differs?
Having the head of the flower down in the bucket can cause damage and bruising to the petals. If the heads are down in a bucket and out of sight, you can't really monitor them and this could also prevent some flowers from opening up. It depends on the flower of course, as snapdragons can benefit from being stored propped against a corner wall so they don't curve as much. Our recommendation for best practice is always to hydrate in properly sized vessels for the best results!
You can definitely do it! Check out this video for ways to get your hands in flowers for practice with grocery store blooms! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2R-3uAhAfN4.html&lc=Ugy4C2AadDz_W4kczZB4AaABAg
No we keep them at room temp after processing. Sometimes we'll keep more sensitive blooms like anemones in the fridge to extend their life. You can find more educational info on our Flower Care 101 page on our site including tips for individual flowers! flowermoxie.com/pages/flower-care
After I get the basic shape built, I'll pull up some of the more delicate blooms like lisianthus and ranunculus and focus on getting different flowers on different planes. The spiral helps to hold them in place. Keep practicing and focus on those different planes!
