Everyone should have the right to listen to, learn about and love music. This simple belief is the driving force behind everything that Galway Music Residency (GMR) aims to achieve. It exists to serve the people of Galway city and county, providing opportunities for all to experience music in new and unexpected ways, to learn from inspiring musicians and spark joy in their lives. Following a competitive international audition process, the ConTempo Quartet was chosen as GMR’s Ensemble in Residence in 2003.
At the core of GMR’s work has been the goal of softening the barrier that traditionally separates the audience, the general public, from classical music and musicians. We present music in interactive ways, in unexpected venues, giving people of all walks of life meaningful experiences of music and encouraging the next generation of music lovers.
Emma, you so rich in Irish dance, history and ancestry. It all comes out of your pores. It is an experience to watch you dance and to watch and listen to you speak about the subject.
Emma es una diosa de la danza irlandesa, hace años que vengo siguiendola y es increible. Aqui no se ve mucho de su arte pero les aseguro que es fabulosa.
I feel privileged to have experienced this extraordinary performance in person as part of NUI Galway's Arts in Action programme last year. Listening back, I can feel the same creeping tension throughout. Well done to all involved.
Interesting piece of music. Took a little while to grab my attention properly, after a long day on site but worth the effort. Superb playing. Thank you.
