I owned a bike exactly like this and the engineering was the best of any bike I’ve owned in 50 years of riding. It could easily outrun any of the crotch rockets of the day. With a water cooled engine, shaft drive and 6 carbs there was nothing like it on the road for reliability and power. It was basically a drag racer with a touring package. The only negative was that it was very heavy on tight turns in the mountains. It was not designed for slow, tight turns and that’s why I finally traded it in for the 1999 Kawasaki Drifter 1500.
