Great video. I ❤art books. The video doesn’t start till 7 mins into it and at first I thought something was wrong with it. I bet other people have clicked off thinking the same. I’m sure if you trim off the first 7 mins you will get lots more views.
I bought both of Rolina van Vliet books , and I am very happy with them. So much to learn from them and they are cheap! I pay only $27 australian dolars each in Amazom Australia
The best video about Abstract composition in the Internet. Thank you Doris ,the way you explain and them offer examples from artists is unique. You put so much effort to teach us..Thank again.
Thank you for sharing this books. I bought two of the books recommended here : 'Abstracts 50 Inspirational Projects' and' Painting Abstracts" both by Rolina van Vliet . That was the best money ($ 27 Australian dollars each in Amazon) I spend in my life ,I just love them .I am learning so much and having fun with all the ideas and projects. Thank again Doris.

@@dorischarest I understand Your Concern & Respect Your Feelings. But I came across your video just today morning and I liked your Video , Felt Commitment in Your voice and a Desire to Teach and share Your Experiences. That is What I Need. Guidance on How to Successfully Develop an Art Business in Antique & Vintage Textiles . I was searching for many years, but I couldn't find one Mentor. But when I watched your video, my curiosity was awakened that I got a Mentor. That is the Reason I Requested You to Teach & Guide me.
@@dorischarest Thanks for your reply and being so Kind. I will Definitely Request Her, buy If She won't , Then I will Request You to be My Mentor. Thanks & Regards.
Thank you for your excellent advice. As I listened, I kept thinking, “Of course!” It seems I just needed you to clarify what I was already trying to understand. I know what I love. But, I’ve been putting off those things, thinking I need to master other techniques first. No more! 😊
There are internationally acclaimed artists beyond the United States :) who have gained fame for their adept use of tertiary colors. One such example is Paul Signac.
Even if you can’t see the x , the intent is there. The goal is not to have it a bold visible x. Breaking it up makes it more subtle. However, I am glad you were interested in composition. I would be happy to look at your work if you give it a try.
I am hard-pressed to see the 'X' in several of the paintings, though squinting helps. Because the teacher/narrator is a mature woman, and because it illustrates an era in art with which I am enamored beyond words, I am intrigued. Even though I do not use intentionality of this kind in my art- if I did, I'd wouldn't paint a thing! I am for once captivated by an analysis of art. Thank you for this intelligent and interesting video.
Love your videos, they are full of information. A bit difficult to navigate your playlists but so many hidden gems. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and expertise!
I’m sorry but this video was titled that it was about composition yet included no content about composition. It does not make me want to watch any other of your videos.
You are kidding me? If you listen to what she says, you'll learn that this video IS about composition - the true composition of what it takes to create a painting. If you listen to what she says instead of filtering her words to see if she has met your expectations or not, you'll soon see that this woman has put so much information into producing this video. From my point of view, the sad thing is you are the one who has missed the true value of the content of this video.
I can see where you’re coming from. I was also expecting for her to talk about elements of composition: balance, focal point, visual movement, etc. But I think this video is more about inspiration, getting started, and story-telling.
@noreennorton5811 hi! Check out David m. Kessler fine art. I felt the same way you did when I watched this. But I was looking for something more specific. And David has a short video (Abstract painting compositions) showing exactly what I was looking for. I’m not sure, but it might be the same for you. I hope it helps. Wishing you the best!
This has to be one of my favourite compositions because there are so many design possibilities. I am in the uk and wake up to your videos, and it puts me in a creative mindset for the rest of the day. Perfect start to my day.
