Hi, it's me, Max. I have a passion for public transport like buses, trains, trams and planes. I've had this passion and hobby for as long as I can remember, dating all the way back to my first ever journey on a train. My favourite train is the Southern Class 455, my favourite bus is the Go Ahead London General Plaxton President, my favourite tram is the MPK Wroclaw Konstal 105NaWr, and my favourite plane is the Boeing 747-400. I hope you enjoy my content have a great time on this channel! :)

Hi I have replied to your message to me twice but for some reason RU-vid is not showing them so I am trying to convey the information via a new message. The Signal Box in your video is the second one at Ferryside this was built about 1878 to replace one opposite the Goods Shed nearer Carmarthen adjacent to the trailing crossover on the same side of the tracks as the current Signal Box is. Ferryside Signal Box Interfaces with Carmarthen Junction Signal Box to the north and Kidwelly Signal Box to the south. You were very lucky to have had the experience in the Signal Box you had, you can always ask a Signalman if you can take a photograph inside the Signal Box at worst they can only say no! If you want any questions answered on Mechanical Signalling send me a reply and I will answer them for you. Have a look at the Exeter West Group Videos on RU-vid especially the training video it is worth watching

I stood on the platform in the early 1960`s and always wanted to have a look inside this box so thank you for posting this video. It looks very different today, gone are the level crossing gates and the goods yard. I became a Movements Inspector decades later, it was watching the Signalman from the platform here that was to lead to my years Signalling, a great video one I will watch many times.

Hey there! Thanks so much for your appreciation and telling us your story! I was simply on holiday in this area of Wales, and I noticed that there was a level crossing nearby with a station so me and my parents went there. I was trainspotting at the platform before the signaller saw me and asked if I wanted to come in. Of course I said yes! And for a good 3 hours we had a great chat about the signalling, how it works, the history behind it, and general chit chat about trains! The signaller explained everything to me, saying that the white levers are no longer in use since they were for the old goods sidings and yards, which today are no longer there, and exactly where the signals are placed and which lever is for what. The kind signaller showed me how it all works and gave me an opportunity to work alongside him changing the signals and putting the level crossing down. It was the best time of my life simply experiencing and taking part in a job of my dreams in an old fashion way. The signaller told me that the signal box sadly does not have long left with probably about a year of life left, yet the signal box was meant to close many years ago but there was no money to refurbish the whole signalling system in that area. The signaller also told me that it is one of the three last surviving signal boxes to be used in this way. It was great fun and it was an amazing experience! I made 2 more seperate videos of me trainspotting from the platform and from the level crossing if you're interested! Once again thank you for your comment and story, it's great to hear the unheard history behind this :)

@@PLMax_Transport54 I watched the video again last night and read your reply to my post this morning. It looks to me as though your a young lad who has been very lucky to be invited into the Signal Box by the Signalman. If there is any information you want on Semaphore Signalling then get back to me and I will give you all the information I can. Mechanical Signalling is disappearing from the network at an alarming rate and with it the knowledge of how it works. I live in Mid Wales where the local line is the most up to date system in the country called ERTMS (European Rail Traffic Management System) it knows where the train is to a distance of half a meter and also knows what speed the train is being driven at. If you go out to other places and you're not invited into the Signal Box don't be too disappointed. It is against the rules and regulation to have members of the public in the Signal Box, some Movements Inspectors do not allow it others will turn a blind eye to it if they see it happening. You can always ask the Signalman if you can take a photograph, if you have a camera, that may get you into the Signal Box. I will look out for your other videos. Regards, Andy.
