The whole process for these pieces in particular was not recorded, but there's similar processes for many pieces in my Patreon enamelworkshop.com/patreon/
You can join my Patreon, there are dozens and dozens of videos there that you can view, with all sorts of projects, simple to complex explained in detail. I also have two beginner foundational classes in my website to get you started (metal preparation and wet packing) enamelworkshop.com/patreon/
I am not aware of any book on this technique although I am sure it does exist! I recommend you search RU-vid for Kate Wolf, I have her tools and I love them. I think she teaches wax carving but not sure if she has video classes available. She probably has a website.
Thank you for a fantastic insight into the world of enamel!! Absolutely fascinating. When I see the fabulous skills of the ancients it makes me wonder if modern man could make such beautiful things. Thank you for all of the effort that I know is needed to make such a video. Kind regards . . . Andy
This is so fascinating to watch!! I guess you are planning on replicating church windows with enamel? I am curious what is going to develop out of these beautiful pieces! You are such an inspiration and incredible artist!
Thank you Janita! Yes this idea started many years ago when I painted some night sky views through a gothic window, which I'm now developing in two pieces, enamel + silver frame, or standalone silver frame.
Wow! That’s such a beautiful collection! 🎉🙌🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 When u say I used 24k gold to line the garnets and the vessuvanite to give them more warmth..what gold did u mean? 24k gold foil? Leaf?
Thank you! I use gold leaf. I found the foil is actually too thick to work well for this technique, which is actually water gilding. I have covered the process in one of my Patreon videos.
Love your work! And ur explanations are too cute..enjoy the accent and expressions 😊 I would love to know what is that white clay on which you fix the metal and start drawing?
This looks fabulous! Please, what is the main difference between the shell gold and the powdered gold? Is it that one already has a medium mixed with it and the other doesn't? Are both used the same way once the powder is mixed with a medium? Thank you! <3
The main ingredient is the same, powdered gold, and indeed the shell gold is already mixed in medium (Arabic gum) and the powdered gold isn't. In practice, they are quite different in application and final effect, and the shell gold cannot be burnished and looks more matte. When you get the product (either) from my store, you receive a full tutorial also with instructions for use of both.
@@enamelWorkshop ok thank you for your response - just trying to decide which is the one I need to buy. Still a bit confused as I've only used Held of Harrogate liquid gold years ago that had horribly strong fumes and smell, and was very temperamental.
@@paulacotov4279 that sounds like lustre gold, which is an entirely different product. The smelly varnish burns away in the firing creating a local reduction atmosphere which transforms the metal back to elemental state... it's a bit complex and as you say tricky to apply and fire. I think it is more suited to ceramics which is its intended purpose. These two other forms are more user friendly and there's no toxic fumes.
Any tips on finding a caster? I am very interested in this process but struggling to find a company who will get the job done at an affordable price. Thanks so much for this helpful video!
so very excited about the new book from your mentor, now in English, 1. Enamelling: The complicity of fire and art by Andreu Vilasís. - will definitely be seeking that book out to purchase. And will share with my enamelist friends.
Thanks for sharing these, love it. When I see the door/window item, I also see you have bones like I just did yesterday. Glad to see we have the same preferance😊
