This channel will feature LSU AgCenter research and extension programs at the Dean Lee Research and Extension Center and throughout the AgCenter's Central Region.
I saw blueberry buckle blueberry bushes being sold at a Louisiana nursery down here. How well do these do? The bush looks different from all the other varieties.
What are some of the varieties that the LSU Agcenter is trialing for blueberry production? I'm interested in trialing some of those on the northern edge of our growing area. I'm about half an hour from the northern edge of the state.
pH as a guide for liming? let me see...what contributes to a higher pH if you want one? magnesium raises soil pH 1.6 times more than calcium, potassium 2x more, and sodium, 4x more. how your pH is constructed is the issue. as you can see, you can have a high pH soil but still lack calcium because the soil has high magnesium, K, and/or sodium. in the end, the need for calcium should be dictated by the nutritional requirement of the crop, even as we recognize that, in the practice so-called soil-mineral balancing, the calcium:magnesium ratio is a concern, not for nutrition, but for how tight or loose you want your soil - the higher the magnesium, the tighter the soil. you can trial that in small plots...i suggest you look for the video of "Bryan McLeod soil understanding the construction of pH". this is not to belittle the value of this video (the discussion here may be appropriate for the local conditions they face) but to offer an alternative viewpoint...blessings to all
Enjoyed your presentation Dr Price. My niece is just starting her classes in precision agriculture in September. She is from the Philippines and we had hoped to get her in a school here in the USA but our dysfunctional governments immigration policies made it impossible to do this legally. Fortunately she had no difficulty being allowed to attend Olds College in Canada.
Atrazine turns male frogs into females. Atrazine runoff gets into drinking water. Now we have a whole month celebrating LGBTQ+. Synthezized chemicals are not the answer to farming food. Soik should never be bare. Plants thrive with other plants. It's just a matter of finding the best pairs.
Using Dual you have to use Concep safened seed, which is applied at the seed plant with the other fugicides and if desired insecticides like Gaucho or Poncho.
Can a tree still grow fine if it has a bad branch angle? I have a young lemon tree that needed a new central leader because of sunburn damage, but I did not realize at the time that I chose a poor branch to replace it.
Don't be like that. 1. He is Italian. English is not his first language. 2. He may be using these terms just to help dummies such as myself to understand better.
Thank you for this information. Very valuable for those of us in the southeast contemplating growing strawberries at home. Did you have a lot of SWD pressure/damage on the berries? If so, how did you combat that?
Wish I had that in my backyard. Fine eating, amaranth. Much more nutritious than soybean, let alone gmo soybean. Pesticides are killing us. God is ingenious creating in advance a plant that defies Big Pharma and can keep us from planned starvation.
I understand your point. But don't forget we all? Just can't switch over to one mono crop. Most of these farms are growing for feed, Another product Is derived from these crops.
Which ever gal or gals are in your replacement group is not ready to get pregnant on time sell them with the steers. You do not want them genetics in your herd.
