I swear to God I don’t understand guys like him (blanking) on the 5 cylinder. I’m a sports car guy….I’ve owned both this and sports cars. I don’t understand what guys like him are looking for a SUV to do. It’s a SUV not a sports car…..and on top of that a SUV from the early 2000 made to go off road. I’m guessing he’s in his 20’s and had a limited view of what cars were like in different era’s. Today manufacturers are trying to blurr the lines. You have soccer moms driving kids around in 400 to 500 hp vehicles they treated and drive like a elderly person. When you grow up with this, I guess this is just normal for you.
I own an Alpha and an RS5 V8, I drove the 3.7 before I drove an Alpha, it’s sluggish to say the least, an SUV/Truck like that doesn’t need 400+ horsepower, but it needs to carry its own weight, it’s a 6,000 pound truck, and the 3.7 doesn’t have enough power to respectfully move the thing around, it also strains on the engine and can lead to transmission failure, it’s not always about sport with a V8, but power to weight ratio, smoother ride quality and overall better reliability in general.
I couldn’t agree with you more, it always amazes me when people say, “the I5 H3’s are so underpowered” because it obviously shows there lack of understanding as to what the platform itself was designed for. Even when it’s powered by the Alpha’s 5.3L (LH8) V8, it’s no bullet either. GM didn’t mistakenly think an 5,000 LB Brick/Boxy Shaped Full-Time 4x4 SUV was going to be speedy or a track star. Nope, it’s all about torque, I5’s make gobs of low-end torque at 1,800-2,800 RPM’s. I seriously believe people underestimate the power of the 3.5L (L52) and 3.7L (LLR) I5’s. Urban Myth: I5 H3’s are underpowered.
umm, sorry, maybe i'm missing something? what is the goal of this video? is starting your car after 2 days worthy of being posted? i love Ford, so nice to see a '96 Tbird still alive, but beyond that whats the point here?
Common thing people do when selling an old car or high mileage car is to warm it up good before people come to look, so it fires right up, and they don't hear the ticks and clicks. He is showing how smooth this thing runs.
Hello and thank you for your comment. I am a used car dealer and I sell rare cars though an alone auction called Bringatrailer.com. I filmed these videos for potential bidders to feel confident bidding on my cars. Lol
This truck is very similar to the truck used in a tv show called Emergency! but the one in the show is a 1972 D-300. Also I bet you had to add the sticker "Not For Sale" because someone came and asked about it. It is a very pristine and nice looking truck.
All the Japanese cars from 90s were literally indestructible. As long as the body wasn't rusted - it would run, and run, and run. And if something broke down, it's super easy to fix. They weren't particularly fun to drive, and not very comfortable either, but there's a damn lot of these still starting up every morning and getting the job done without much maintenance and love given.
