Goulburn was my childhood home town. We still go back occasionally. My friend lives across the road to the west of the orphanage. Your description of the walls around Beechworth are the wrong way round. Originally called "Ha-Ha Walls" they are designed around a ditch on the INSIDE of the grounds. sadly, originally designed to keep livestock inside property walls before the use of wire fencing.
