Why are you cutting the first piece right in there middle of the fabric horizontally? What a huge waste!! You could save on fabric just by turning he box vertically and cutting.

Wow, GENIUS! I might try making one using a cool looking giant old book from a thrift shop or someone could make a smaller holder from a small, cool looking book for mail, etc, could be a nice gift! How to do the accordion folded side is key. I've also wanted to make some of those accordion "red rope" expanding file holders because they are crazy expensive. I could make them out of the zillion green hanging outer folders I have.

When it gets dirty, you have to toss the whole thing. A removable cover made with a sewing machine and perhaps a zipper would last many years.
