It's busy in summer 🌞 there's paid parking along the seafront plus large car park. It's a long beach from sandy at one end to stones at the other. Sandy bit lovely for sunbathing and swimming 🏖️
I moved to CARLISLE from LANCASHIRE IN 1976. 🤦♂️😡👎It SHOULD HAVE BEEN BUILT THEN. WHEN IT WAS " ZILLIONS CHEAPER " AND ALSO MORE LAND 2 CHOOES FROM. 50 YEARS LATER 😡👎🤦♂️ AN EXPENSIVE AFTERTHOUGHT. yes it means if between the M6 JUNTIONS 44 TO 42 god forbid we HAVE ANY SERIOUS VEHICLE ACCIDENTS. 🤦♂️👎TRAFFIC IN BOTH DIRECTIONS 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 CAN BE DIVERTED BY THE POLICE FROM M6 JUNCTION 44 TO JUNCTION 42 OR VISE VERSA.👍🤦♂️👍. but is SUPPOSED TO BE " UP AND RUNNING BY " 2025 HA HA HA HA ❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓ 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ THAT MIGHT NOT BE HAPPENING ❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓ WE SHALL SEE❓.
I drive past it often on my way to work, I’d like to think it will be finished in time. But I highly doubt it. They were months behind the scheduled road closures, which are now stating shut for longer periods of time as well. It will hopefully be worth it. But as you say, it’s decades behind what should have happened.
Fantastic video😍, I initially was just looking to see if you had any shots of the river channels..... indeed you did via drone aswell, not only that you filmed the bore! I'm a bore surfer and have surfed the Eden a few times, looks like the channels don't currently look that great for the bore. I'm guessing it was best a little further down from where you were standing towards Bowness. What date was this please? Thanks for the great video.
Thanks for spotting the bore! We weren't expecting it so took a few minutes to get the drone up as it passed. Agree it's more dramatic further up as it narrows by the Eden and Esk, as is the river level rise. This was end of April. Surfing it sounds fun 😊
go up there right through the winter usually at night , whatever the weather , last tuesday evening it was 3c up on Cold fell , even the modest Talkin fell gives a great view over our city and the Solway
What a beautiful walk with great footage and interesting narrative. I'll do this walk next weekend as I've not been up there before, only ever walking around Talkin Tarn. Cheers 🙂👍
@@HelzNicolasDeeks Yes, at a first glance of the thumbnail I thought it was Nine Standards Rigg, I didn't actually know about those Talkin Fell curricks 👍
Really nice the lake district and the fells, done walks there myself, struggling to remember the names, snow fell was 1 of em the other names evade me.will need to look it up.thanx for great video.
Yes thanx indeed for the video,I spent 6years at that school, underprivileged children from Sunderland it was used for,all boys.do the remains of the building still exist or were they stock shots?did say the building was rebuilt but looking at the remains I doubt it.once again thank you so much. Kind Regards, Charles.
Thanks very much! Yes it has an interesting history doesn't it? It was quite hard to find anything online to guide us. Really interesting to hear more about its history, thank you 🙂 the remains in the film are still standing, it's easier to see in winter with less foliage. The newer main building is now gone and just a pile of rubble sadly. Good call re. Talkin Tarn! Waiting for the right weather for an early morning trip up so it's quieter, but watch this space 😁 hope you enjoy some of our other videos from the surrounding local area.
Just come across your site, and yes will sure to be watching, every Sunday after breakfast we went for walks all over the place Lanacost priory was another place we use to walk to also a nice place talking over 60 years ago,so place as prob changed a lil since then, not sure of ones you've done already but I'll be sure to be adhered to your channel.thank you so much.X
Thanx for the video of ruins of milton hall school, been trying for long time for update, was at that school night it caught fire.unfortunatly 2 firemen were killed when wall fell in them.been trying to get pics of the property b4 it burnt down, only a dowdy grey black and white pic available, doesn't do the building justice.thanx so much.regards Charles.
I spent my summer holidays on a farm near Newcastleton when I was a child. A highlight was always visiting Hermitage Castle, where my brothers and I built dams in the burn. Thank you for taking me back to those days, and for educating me about Riccarton, which I didn't know about then. I do remember the farmer talking about the protests in Necastleton when the Waverley Line closed, with people lying on the tracks in front of the last train out of the town. Your drone footage is exquisite, BTW.
Isn't it just great when a modern video takes you back to your childhood, with fond memories 🙂 This is an area that I visit a few times each year, walking and cycling, and I'd love to go back to 'those days' when life was much less busy.
That first bridge needed a mention - skew arch bridge over which The Rocket loco would have passed carrying coal trucks to the staithes (on the right) from up The Dandy (on the left)
