Hey I would love to bring my drone to my next holiday on Vlieland. Did you need a permission to fly it? Because it says on the internet that flying a drone as a private person is not allowed on Vlieland? Thank you very much! Your video is incredible!!
Julchen C Hi! During the week, a part of Vlieland (Vliehors) is used as a military training ground, so flying a drone is prohibited. During the weekend it’s not really a problem. Just don’t fly over buildings and/or crowds. Be aware of the heliport near the harbor. And most of all: watch out for Oystercatchers. These birds are not fond of drones and are not affraid to attack.
Thank you so much for your reply! Does is say anywhere, that it is allowed to fly the drone on the weekend? I thought it must be possible to fly it on the weekends when there’s no military training but I couldn’t find anything online. I’m just scared to get fined or anything. Julchen C Officialy Vlieland is a no fly zone, but in 2017, when I was there, that was not yet the case. You can find a map with all no fly zones in Holland here: kadata.kadaster.nl/dronekaart/ I visit Vlieland every year (I was there 2 weeks ago) and it was really no problem to fly there (in the weekend that is). But it is your choice of course.
