The first two local Boston bands that I would see each time they play was Human Sexual Response and Mission of Burma and they remain two of my favorite local bands. I think this is a great album and also very representative of what it was like to see them play live. And I'm surprised that though I like every song on the album it's side two that has my favorites which is rare on anyone's album.
I just love Life of the Record. As a child of the 70's coming to music really in the 90's, I feel like you keep getting all of my favorite records. I feel like you are reading my mind in terms of what records are important. I was just telling someone how I always liked superchunk but really fell in love with them when foolish came out. I would say, 'keep out of my head', but I want you to stay in it and keep putting out these amazing episodes.
A lot of people have a misconception that Buzz is jealous and bitter towards Kurt because of his success and fame. Nothing could be further from the truth. Buzz was close friends with Kurt and misses him. He just has an acerbic, snarky sense of humor and generally doesn't have much patience for all the music industry mythos surrounding Kurt.
When did he say this? Because he shat on his Pixies album in his interview with Marc Maron in 2016. I'm pretty sure I know why he did it. He's very close to Kim, who always had a difficult relationship with Charles (who wrote all the songs), and needed to devalue the Pixies to big her, and her Breeders project, up. Not to suggest Albini was not one of the greats.
Am I the only person who hears this track borrowing it's driving melody from Johanneslut by 70s German electronic music group Roedelius? I came here to hear an admission that he was listening to Roedelius or something
I fell in love with Cursive pretty much immediately upon hearing them. I heard Ugly Organ first, but it was Domestica's guitar-work that made me appreciate the band so much more.
I love this format and don’t know how there aren’t more views on this. Are the interviews original? Great music and info to play while getting things done.
I'm so pleased that the lack of commercial success of "Transference" hasn't left Britt with a negative opinion of the album. I also identify with his opinion that it appealed to people that got into the band prior to Ga x 5. I don't fault them for their continued growth in terms of their sound, but I missed many things that initially drew me to the band in the early days and Transference felt a little more in line with the earlier releases.
