You mean a digital backing track? If so, the drummer clicks the play button on the tablet, and hears a click. After 4 clicks in his ear he counts the band in to the song, in this case with an 8 count and everyone plays together. Ex: Click 1 2 3 4 then Stick 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 then Band plays.
This is the outcome of overproduction. Blame the producer. You can't record songs and layer it on and then expect to play it live good. I can't stand Feldman. They need a new producer.
