I know it's comedy but I always thought this was heavy af... and if anyone wants to say different they should know I have a caveman club and I'm not afraid to use it!
Still one of the best scary animation sequences I've ever seen in my life. This entire film is just a REALLY good horror movie. I loved it as a kid and I love it now.
FINALLY SOMEONE WHO UNDERSTANDS. 😭🎉 I keep on hearing people say it scared them as a kid, but I absolutely LOVED IT and STILL DO. The creepiness and dark events were the *BEST PARTS* about this movie. 🙏✨
I just watched this movie this morning for the first time since I was like 7. I think when they’re singing about “Vincent price knowing what to do, you just tell him boo!” They’re giving the main crew the answer. Just scare the appliance mishmasher. I wonder if that’s what they meant.
I ended up laying out parts of nearly every song, because, being the newbie on the team, and this being pre-Little Mermaid, songs in animated films were considered the absolute cringiest part.
This movie holds up so well, I miss kids movies like this that had the balls to tell a good story without dumbing it down for them. Too often I hear the excuse that “it’s just a kids movie, it’s allowed to be stupid” that argument holds no weight, we’ve had countless examples of grate entertainment for all ages and this movie is example of that
Hands down to the TV for not only communicating to the master to go to the junkyard and save his friends in a way that doesn’t reveal his sapience, but also being the comedic relief to quench the pain of such a depressing and heartbreaking song by driving himself to insanity of total bargain madness!
The existentialism in this single song drives me bonkers, it’s amazing how a kids movie can show so many dead ends in your life: People who are overworked People who can’t start moving People who can’t stop moving People who have failed People who live with regret People who are traumatized or have never felt true happiness People who find all desires and pleasure meaningless People who can’t live with a broken heart
I just knew the Toy Story movies took inspiration from Brave Little Toaster, especially the climax of Toy Story 3. As beloved as both franchises are, they also raise eyebrows with how dark they can be. The junkyard scene in this and the incinerator scene in Toy Story 3. Holy crap.
In what now feels a bit morbid, I'm listening to this on repeat while dropping off a 47" flat-screen from 2009 at a free exchange area because it's too old to be worth storing anymore. And that is so much more advanced than anything here.
the funny thing is that those "cutting edge" appliances are so easily mass produced and simple to replace. there's something to be said for older tech that's still useful all of these years later. My toaster is from the early 70s and it makes better toast than any modern toaster i've used.
