Very nice ballsy tone on the mod when cranked a bit more. I think the clean tone differences might even favour the unmodded amp though personally. But of course Marshall's are famous for their drive. I think both amps sound great with your playing though, I could only aspire to play blues rock as well.
I have the exact same amp, and although it's not a tube amp, it's great quality, great sound, and easy to use。The speakers are Marshall 1960. There are four speakers. The sound is great.
It‘s quiet, not humming at all , like all my tube amps from Marshall and Fender constantly do . Great for clean playing either my Taylor plugged in !Got the retro 80 version .
JJ Power tubes can fail (internal short) and cause damage to your amplifier. I am not saying that all will cause damage but I have seen more than just a few. I am an amplifier service guy in So California. I have seen more than a few amplifier failures where a shorted output can take out a cathode resistor and or even an output transformr. JJs are about the cheapest tubes you can get. They are put together in a way that they often develop internal short circuits. JJs small signal tube (preamp) tubes do not exhibit this problem. Please, Just my 2 cents worh.
For some of us, every single amp but especially solid-state boils down to sweeping very bassy and clustered arpeggios and it needing to have very good note separation and clarity rather than the "swishing" and "static" sort of white noise caused by the abundance of high frequency even order harmonics semiconductors generate. It's very difficult to find from a solid-state amp without adding outboard gear to the FX loop, but I know they are out there. Tubes it's almost guaranteed to deliver what I described but even some tube gear ends up lacking definition and note separation. A wicked solid-state for metal and hard rock rhythm, on the other hand, is very easy to find.
Check pots first, and fx loop. the 2200 caps are only filter caps, check voltage +/-49V, +/-34V +/- 15V, check opamps tl072 and speacially the reverb mc1458
I have one,... been sittin' for a while,... need's repair,... wish I could find a good guy to work on it,... to good of an amp... to be just sittin' in the corner,... I miss the sound of the Sidewinder........
I was looking into what you here, class 5, Greenback Celestions, right about a comfortable price used. I just have a newer multi practice amp (NUX is the brand) built in effects, great fun little amp for simple set ins and practice, but I don't have a primary just in case I need a stage amp and I'm doing more recording right now... So all that considering, would you recommend this amp? I mainly play classic rock, some metal, blues some jazz, I'm familiar with Marshall tone just not acquainted with this piece of hardware in my years of experience. One thing I think I would it cleans up well with volume and tone pot knobs... that would be a a bonus, just thought I would ask for a friendly inquiry and feedback BTW I don't need CTP (call the cops!) power either! haha.... Great demonstration! THANKS!
One of the best pickups of all time, active or passive, for any genre of music. I've always had an '81 in at least one guitar in my guitarsenal. They do what they do better than anything.
I’ve been looking for demos of EMG’s that aren’t exclusively metal and this is what I was looking for. Great playing man, thank you for this video! 🤟🤟🤟
This was our guitarists first head (With cab) after upping from a kick ass little Crate combo. This thing was amazing sounding, plenty of power for gigs with my live kit and took a beating without a hitch. No need for a tube when you got this guy. So versatile as well. Tons of bad ass memories gigging with this thing man!
