You need a metal pan like a pizza pan and stick the antenna magnet mount in the center with at least a inch of metal or more around the base. Then you can use it as if it was on the ground.

Great video. Would you say that the Nagoya is well suited for marine band. Are these swr readings consistent with the same models or do you think there a variation with the readings with different antennas of the same model.

Good day, I'm planning to purchase either the Nagoya UT-72 or Nagoya UT-72G antenna. I'm primarily going to use frequencies between 451.000 to 455.000 most of the time, and occasionally frequencies between 144 to 145. I've heard that the Nagoya UT-72G might be a better choice since its frequency range extends from 155 to 462 compared to the Nagoya UT-72, which covers 144 to 430. However, I've noticed that the Nagoya UT-72G is more expensive in my area. Can you please provide guidance on which antenna would be the better option given my frequency usage and budget constraints? Your assistance is much appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you for your help. I couldn't figure out why I had good signal and can see the everyone on wjst-x but nothing on band activity. When I went through your video, I saw my date was wrong, all I had to do was sync now. Bam, all was all good. Thanks again for your help

You got the '1.01' reading quite often when testing - that brings me to the conclusion there's something weird in your test setup! From the comments i read that this is due to the usage of the SWR-meter you use, and i think so too. When you grab it thightly with your hand you will nearly always get such readings. For the fake Nagoyas i saw very different results when testing. I think the quality spreads from 1:1.5 to 1:6 or similar depending on what you actually got. They don't do manual matching/tuning. At the base of the real ones you will find little inductor coils and caps as matching network for low SWR.

Friend, I am a newbie, I bought 2PACK BaoFeng UV-16 Max V2 10W High Power IP68 Waterproof Walkie Talkie Support Type-C Charger Long Range Radio Upgrade UV5R PRO but I can only talk up to 500 meters, I need at least 10km. I'm doing something wrong or it's not the right model (these are given for distances up to 50 km. which I don't need) What do you recommend, thank you thank you

only 500 metres of range with 10w of power sounds like youre in an urban environment or something else is blocking the way place your antenna up higher, set up a repeater, or both

Very nice review but only thing I am not sure about is, you said walksnail can do 120fps and HD-Zero 90fps. In fact, both googles OLEDs (HD-Zero and Walksnail) can only do 90fps max so ....

You seem to have had your UV-5R set on LOW when doing your transmission tests. That and sticking the antennas out the window of your car would work only for your stock antenna. Please put your radio on HIGH and place the entire antenna outside the car. The RETEVIS RHD-771 should give you significantly better results, which is something you may learn in range tests!
@googlacco
@googlacco 7 месяцев назад
power settings are irrelevant for tests like these the only meaningful difference between antennae are their radiation patterns and swr ratings there should be no difference in how the antenna performs based on the power, if anything using a lower power setting would give you more accurate results as with these radios less power would go towards harmonics all you would be proving is that more power yields you better penetration

Why the values in 04:35 are totally different than earlier? It was Stock: 144/436 and later 144/454 ; Nagoya 1st 162/479 later 155/432 ... ???

Not really comparable, as targeting different purposes, HDZERO best latency for racing or freestyle pls having HDMI in means you can plug Avatar VRX into HDZERO googles, expansion bay with Analog receiver is good. But if you are after cinematic shots, best video quality, 1080p Avatar is the way to go.

You need ground when removing antenna from the analyzer, and put cable on. And you can't compare antenna with and without antenna cable between analyzer and antenna.

@kord2003
@kord2003 Год назад
When wrap my hand around it it starts showing much smaller values depending on how tightly I hold it. If I squeeze it tight it shows SWR=1.01 even for the crappiest knockoff antenna. Honestly, I'm not sure if that's the correct way to test SWR with this meter.

Useless comparison and tests! Mag mount antennas must be on a metal surface (car body) to test SWR and the 771G is a dedicated GMRS antenna and not intended for use on VHF except for receive! I have several of the "fake" Nagoya 771's and, when tested with a proper counterpoise on a properly calibrated NANO VNA SAA-2, they were all well within specs on both the amateur VHF (144 MHz) and UHF (430 MHz).

@alienwarex51i3
@alienwarex51i3 Год назад
@@damiengirvan5020 My authentic Nagoya 771 has 1.01 SWR on 440 MHz and about 1.5 SWR on 145 MHz. From this video (and other tests I've seen) it seems like the fake ones are a roll of the dice on whether they're OK or not. Some of them have 3+ SWR on one of the bands, others are alright. He's right though, the UT-72G antenna this guy is testing is specifically for GMRS frequencies.

Magnetic antennas have their ground attached to the magnet. They have to be tested on a metal surface.
