I LOVE thoughtful responses. Thank you for listening and sharing your thoughts! My reply: Often, the best predication of the future, is the past. So, personally, I'm just as optimistic about the future that the human will, will remain relatively the same. Thusly, we will continue to innovate, be more efficient and ultimately make more money (with a lot of swing of extremes in-between of course!) You are right that many people would consider converting to bonds when they get older. Thankfully , through the progression of modern medicine, our life expectancy continues to increase so we can be more patient in obtaining the "magic number" we want, because becoming conservative too early is also a risk, as you may outlive your money. Lastly, I owe you some more research on robo advisors and socially consciously investing!

@@joeChall Another factor to consider in that 10% number is inflation. If you adjust for that, historical returns on the S&P 500 are more like 6.5%. It makes sense to me to adjust for inflation when looking at returns over a long period of time like this.
