Hello, my name is Caleb Konrad and I am just a kid from Brooklyn, NY that fell in love with bass fishing. This channel will document my fishing adventures and journey to achieving my dream of fishing tournaments on a professional level tour. I will also be showing some insight into what life as a fishing guide is like.
Reel One Guide Service was established in early 2024 to provide access to world class fishing opportunities in Central New York. I discovered my passion for teaching and taking others fishing almost 10 years ago during my days working for the NYS DEC I Fish NY program where I used to run fishing clinics for a variety of demographics. We are kid and beginner friendly and absolutely love sharing our passion with others. We specialize in guided fishing trips on Onondaga Lake, Cayuga Lake, and Oneida Lake. Reach out today to schedule your trip.
I would have welcomed them to the lake and told them what was getting bites and where. I am not selfish or anti-social. If you don't want company around your boat, buy a private lake. Their taxes helped pay for the fish you are catching.
dude, the lake is 30 miles long, you can't see another boat, and they come within casting range. something tells me you catch nothing, so you do the same tactic.
I welcome people to the lake and am willing to help them out as well but fishing boat to boat is a little unnecessary when there’s a mile long stretch holding fish. NYS DEC does not manage bass so no their tax dollars had nothing to do with the fish I was catching.
Maybe if the PA guys would have acknowledged him and started talking instead of just rolling up and dropping their poles not even making eye contact. Or even a simple “hey is it cool if we keep sliding down this bank?” Of course everyone is welcome, It’s just etiquette or better known as common courtesy
They were fishing the bent rod pattern. PA guys are all the same. They come to Oneida Lake and do the same thing. They don't have any fish in PA so they come here and pound ours. No scruples.
Why have a season at all if that's the case? DEC "biologists" are just unqualified employees who get promoted and have no idea what they are talking about in N.Y.!
Good job on how you handled this subject matter. I would like to see some much more in depth studies before making a conclusive decision. I think the number of fisherman as well as the technological advances have significantly increased the pressure on the fish since the studies were done. I also think the other study that needs to be done is the effect of goby predation on nests. My gut feeling is that gobies might be a bigger issue than fishing.
Thanks, I agree with you 100%. I really wish NY state would put more effort into studying and managing bass. That’s a good point about a goby study. They are literally everywhere in the St Lawrence River and that place has been getting more pressure than ever in recent years.
I feel like it is kind of an overlooked fishery. I wish they would start hosting some bigger tournaments there again. A bfl on the Hudson would be pretty cool.
Anywhere from April-July is superb on Cayuga. It all depends on how you want to catch them. I also just started my guide service. If interested in booking a trip, feel free to email me at reeloneguideservice@gmail.com
Wait for the market to crash and buy a home in the median price range. Buy it owner occupant and don't buy anything unless it will have a positive cash flow when turned into rental property. Get a real estate license. It is easy to do. Get a key for the H.U.D. and V.A. owned properties. Don't buy anything over 10 years old because I can guarantee you there will be repairs. Not because the previous owner vandalized the property but because it has likely been vacant for quite some time. Real estate goes through cycles and we are entering a down cycle. Maybe the worst this nation has ever seen. When you establish a positive cash flow use any extra money to set aside for repairs or make extra principle payments on outstanding mortgage debt. Learn to live below your means. There are very few top anglers that hit it big so have a back up plan. If it is about fishing there is no better way I know than to become and real estate investor and entrepreneur. If you are a jack of all trades it will even go smoother for you. I retired at 50 and I only had a dozen homes. And I didn't get in the real estate business until I was 27. And I ain't all that smart. But I never minded working but now I am slowly turning to dust and mostly just fantasize about fishing. But I have a good buddy with a pontoon with a MinnKota and Spot Lock so life is still good.
