Ironic, because now they are too big, and too much of a monopoly that it’s hurting publishing houses, and authors because they have to offer Amazon books at a much lower cost than competitors thus leading to smaller profits for authors. This is causing publishers to have less money for new and emerging authors, and less money to pay existing authors. Not to mention, when they sell out of a book, they will just print their own copies of it and the quality is always trash and looks nothing like the original design of the books/covers. In short, it was never about a man and his love for reading, because how could you grow to screw over the whole book community in such a way. It was always about money, so no surprise he’s the monopoly he is today.

Great video Derek. Do you find that open rates are still a useful metric for assessing deliverability considering apple privacy opens, and things like that?

Thank you and great question! Yes, definitely still find it useful. Open rates are vanity metrics, so we don’t use it to make huge decisions, but it will tell us a lot about deliverability/if the emails are even getting to the inbox. You can also filter out apple privacy opens if you want to get a clearer idea of open rates

The welcome flow you showed with the conditional splits was really helpful. I imagine this would also help with deliverability, could you show the rest of the flow? I think it was right where klayviyo freezed up in the video.

Just found your channel, so much great info, thank you for your help! Quick question regarding the core 4 segments from a previous video. If I wanted to send one campaign to multiple different segments (ex. 90D lead and 90D engaged), how would I make sure that 1) a user isn’t in both segments I’m using and 2) that if they are they don’t receive my campaign email twice?

Glad you've found it helpful! Good questions: 1. They might be but to answer #2 as well, I would add them as exclusions (ie. first email is sent to segment 1 excluding segment 2 and the second email is sent to segment 2, excluding anyone who received email 1)

Amazing video! In your document, it says to add a profile tag to exclude the recipient from campaigns. How does that work? Do you need to create that tag first in the Klaviyo backend or do you do it directly in the flow?

Hey man, you would want to add a specific filter or conditional split. Either you build out separate flows for each category OR you create a conditional split within one flow.

Hi Derek! I've learned a lot from your video. Thank you! And I have a question: if my customer abandons more than 3 products at his checkout, how should I set the checkout abandonment email? Then, if he abandons one product, will the setup conflict with the above?

Hey, glad to hear it! You can set things up the same way if people abandon more than 3 products... but if people consistently abandon more than 3/4 products, it may be worth looking at limiting the amount of products that can show up in the dynamic field. You can do this by editing the 'Row Collection' field in the dynamic field element.

Great question and, logically, you're right. That said, sometimes the pixel that tracks the open doesn't load, is blocked or, if you send text-only emails, doesn't track. If you create a segment with and without the clicks, you'll likely notice there's a difference in the size of the segment.

20% vs. $10, typically as the price of an item increases the marketing shifts from % off to $ off. If you go out an buy a car, for example, when is the last time you've seen an ad that has a % off?

Excellent video! Question for you. What happens if there is only an approx. 100 profile difference between each of the List Clean - 10/11/12/13/14/15 segments I created. I do not see a significant decrease of 500 or so profiles as your example showed. Also, I noticed there is a much easier way to suppress profiles. You can just click on the 3 dots next to the segment name, then choose Suppress Current Members. This way you no longer have to export and import profiles into the suppress list. Thank you!

@@Mark-fc5cj ok, so because you're not sending super frequently, you might not see as dramatic of a drop. Try looking at people who have received 7/8 emails without opening/clicking. If there's still not much of a difference here, I'd just stick with the 10 emails.

When I looked at the profiles who received 7/8/9 emails, I am still seeing the same approx. 100 profile difference. So with that being said, I should suppress at the 10 email list?

I have a weird question because I am having trouble understanding. With the welcome series, this is for someone who signs up. So what if someone signs up and then purchases (because they signed up to get a coupon code) so then do they go to a different flow? (the post purchase flow) or stay in the welcome series AND also go in to the post purchase flow?

Great question. This is a mistake a lot of brands make actually. So, when someone joins a list at checkout (either because they purchased or because they were about to), we recommend adding those people to a separate list. You can add them to the same list, assuming you have airtight exclusions, but what you want to avoid is having people who just purchased getting the welcome series + the thank you series at the same time. We have exclusions in the welcome series so that people who initiated checkout/just purchased do not receive it. Does that answer your question?

Yes it does kinda. To clarify, I was referring to people that sign up using a pop up form. So for example they sign up and thus get 10% off, then they are automatically placed in the welcome series. But if they redeem the discount by thus placing an order would they still remain in the welcome series? Or is this taken care of by Klayvio thanks to the Trigger- placed an order zero times. Thus if this equals 1 time, I assume this takes them to the post purchase sequence? Would you then create a post purchase list and segment this list? Or would you create a newsletter list and segment it into those who purchased 1 time or more?

​@@clementeen ya, so I would make sure you have the right filters in place so that if people initiate checkout/purchase they are added into either the abandoned checkout/PP flow and removed from the welcome series. If someone opted in to a pop-up, entered the welcome series and then purchased, they don't need to be added to a new list. I would just make sure you exclude people who have placed order since joining the flow from the welcome series.
