@@Scummy_shovel -- Since this is my first build, I thought I'd start cheap and I had the Brozz over in the corner of the garage. The engine is a bulletproof 250cc Honda clone, so I don't have to worry too much about it running. I over built the frame expecting to eventually do an engine swap for maybe a 400cc in the future. For now, I'll be happy if it doesn't fold like a taco at 60 mph :)

318 bore is too small to take full advantage of the heads. The bore is so small in fact, that the valves are shrouded by the bore walls, inhibiting flow. Good heads are better utilised on a 340 or 360. The 318 is a workhorse, not a thoroughbred.
@WrecklessEnterainment
@WrecklessEnterainment Год назад
318 is fine with 1.88/1.60 valves most 360’s would’ve had. It becomes shrouded with a 2.02 intake valves.

318 are great motors i have had a few. The one i have now in a 1976 Dodge D100 5.2L or 318 has been a awesome motor. I have done maintenance, like a oil pump, all new gaskets, and a timing chain twice. It does have 480,000 miles same block same heads runs great and does not smoke at all. I do change oil every 3 thousand miles. I'm getting ready to put a 340 cam and 340-360 edelbrock heads and a better timing chain and also a 4 barrel carb. Going radical 318 like i had in my 73 Duster.

The 318 is a very tough motor, I remember back in the day, u CLD hold those on the floor, at higher rpm, valves start to float,. But never ever had a issue, with a 318.. as far as blowing up, while running the shit out of it... Never a problem.. great motor.. not much power but a reliable engine

@@bergerone3 you can make 800 out of these to my knowledge (I know more of the magnums than I do the las but most of it carries over so correct me if I'm wrong) but you'll either need to half fill or completely fill the block. And then there's literally no using it. No driving it. Just straight 1/4 mile that's it. Even with meth injection you won't run cool enough. It also takes a good amount of boost. Now if you could get an r3 block with some w9 heads, that's a dangerous recipe to hurt some hemi guys feelings....and I am a hemi guy

witch is better a carburetor 318 or fuel injection for most horsepower
@Kawichemist
@Kawichemist 3 года назад
Which one is better, they are the same. Proper aif fuel ratio is the best you can have. Closed loop FI has advantage for fuel economy through changing air densities. An example of changing air densities is driving from sea level over a high mountain pass in a macro example. In a much more micro view driving through a "low pressure" storm system.
@Oldfordshit

@IGrocker

Port fuel injection will almost always have an edge, being that the basic concept in similar to something like a stack injection. It might not always be much, but the benefits of port fuel injection will usually produce better power. This is coming from a guy who has swapped several fuel injected vehicles to carburetors. I still prefer carbs, but the facts don’t lie.

Mattew green. My 85 lights up quick with a small cam in it. But due to the low comp of the 318 engine depending on what cc head you get off of the 360 you might drop the compression ratio below 8:1 which is a huge problem its self. My truck got just about 8mpg being nice to it on a 200 mile trip. Its not cheap.
@half-asscyclesandrods6855
@half-asscyclesandrods6855 3 года назад
I agree, it was established when I built it so I shaved .040 off the heads to compensate for the lack of compression. I read about the head swap in a magazine when I was a kid and wanted to give it a shot lol.
