I am the bandleader and arranger of these sides. The idea was to showcase Tiny as an honest-to-goodness historian of vintage vocal stylings. To that end, we were quite successful -- Tiny conjures up the Al Jolson approach on Side A, early Bing Crosby on side B. Unfortunately, commercial success -- that's a different matter -- LOL. The idea was to interest a major label in picking it up. However, Tiny Tim was "persona non grata" in the recording industry after telling people NOT to buy his 3rd (or 4th?) Warnes Brothers album. It was a great experience working and recording with him.
woah!!! im an absolute tiny fanatic so to catch someone who worked with him six hours fresh has me a bit starstruck. I always have such great appreciation for any musician/producer/bandperson who "put up with him" so to sya. I know it wasnt like that, and heres why i have said appreciation, because like me i feel most who worked with him just absolutely got what he was trying to do, and just cannot believe anyone else doesnt like them like they do. Much love, and simply fantastic work, tiny can have a rag tag band and with that voice make it work but its always that much better when it is as wonderful as it sounds on this track!!!!!!!
August 1997 This release features an Enhanced CD track following the standard audio program on the disc. Enhanced CD is an exciting new format, endorsed by the computer and audio industry, which allows the listener to experience interactive graphics, video, and text about the artist in addition to the audio program. What follows is a description of how you can use this disc on both your audio and computer system. All of the discs in this soundtrack series are enhanced CDs and contain a theatrical trailer or film clip from the movie. These tracks can also be accessed from a generic audio controller on your computer such as the Windows(TM) 3.1 "Media Player," or the Windows(TM) 95 "CD Player". The Enhanced CD track is not visible or playable on any audio CD player. Enhanced CD The Enhanced CD program of the disc can be played only from a CD-ROM drive using either a MACINTOSH(TM) or Windows(TM) based system. Windows(TM) 3.1 Directions: 1) Load the CD into your CD-ROM drive. 2) Open the "File Manager" 3) Click on the icon for Drive "D" or "Drive "E" or whichever drive is assigned your CD-ROM 4) If you don't already have QuickTime(TM) for Windows(TM) installed on your system, double click on the file "QTINSTAL.exe" and complete the installation process. 4) For QuickTime(TM) playback, Double click on the file "Chitty16.exe" A NOTE ABOUT Enhanced CD Enhanced CD is a brand new format. Therefore we want to caution you that some hardware/software configurations may not be able to access and play the Enhanced CD track properly. Sometimes it takes the Enhanced CD track a long time (up to 30-40 seconds) to mount on the desktop, so be patient! More serious problems are: 1) The Enhanced CD track may not mount at all on your desktop. You may get an error message that states: "D:\ is not accessible" This means that either: a) You haven't installed the proper System/CD-ROM software or b) Your CD-ROM drive is not 'multi-session' capable and cannot read the Enhanced CD track. 2) The Enhanced CD track performs poorly, i.e. graphics update extremely slowly, or the QuickTime(TM) video is out of sync. This may mean that: a) Your computer is not fast enough, or b) You have too little RAM installed (minimum 8 MB needed, but 16MB is highly recommended, particularly for Windows(TM) machines). To remedy this, you may want to try installing the entire contents of the Enhanced CD track onto your hard disc and then try running the program from your hard disc. To access the audio portion of the disc, you'll need to have this CD-ROM in your drive. A Note About MPEG1 MPEG1 video files will only play on the fastest, most current machines. We have included these files to provide power users with the highest-quality video format attainable, as the speed and power of computers increases. Rykodisc has taken a risk in putting MPEG1 videos on this disc, but we think it will be worthwhile in the long run. The risk is that the MPEG1 videos will not play back well on many people's machines. The number of variations in processor speed, CD-ROM speed, multimedia devices, and memory allocation makes it impossible for Rykodisc to guarantee flawless playback of MPEG1 files. For this reason, we have taken great care to ensure that the QuickTime movies are of the highest possible quality. In short, if you are having trouble playing the MPEG1 versions, don't bang your head against the wall; enjoy the QuickTime movies. Your next computer should play the MPEG1 files just fine. A Note about the Web Link The Web link launches your web browser. Often, web browsers are not configured to automatically dial up your internet service provider. If this is the case with your system, you will have to exit the program, connect to your provider, and relaunch the Enhanced CD program in order for the browser to find the Rykodisc Web site.
